| January 12, 2004 - 2:15 AM Wow. Where to start? I went down to Washington, DC with my friend and his mom to watch the Caps play the Oilers. Simple enough, right? No. First off, we had to bring my friend Tom to the emergency room because his pupils were uneven. It turned out to be a reaction to his eyedrops, but considering the fact that the kid's had nosebleeds for a week straight, it was pretty scary for a while. Anyway, we got done there in enough time to go to the game, and as far as 1-0 games go, it was pretty good. Salo and Kolzig put on quite a show, but it was Salo who would get beat by Robert Lang at the end of the first. Our seats were awesome, club level at dead center ice. As for what happened after, we left DC around 9, and I fell asleep shortly thereafter. I woke up at around 9:30 to find myself under the Ben Franklin Bridge (in Philadelphia) in a car that doesn't work. Yes, the car had died and the temperature was somewhere around the 15 degree mark. Awesome. The fact that cars and trucks were whizzing past us at 60-70 miles per hour wasn't too comforting either...I was pretty scared at the time, I have no issue with admitting that. Anyway, a police officer came by and I scored my first ride in the back of a police car. Comfy, let me tell ya...the "seats" were solid plastic. When it was time to get out, I started grabbing for a door handle to get out before I realized how retarded I was. A cab ride and a rental car later, I was home with only a few hours sleep until I leave for Boston. |
