| Season of the Month | ||||
The lucky winner this month is: Winter! We took this rare oppertunity to quiz this most regal of seasons with some of our reader's frequently asked questions. Where do you get your ideas from? I normally look back on work done by my contemporaries; I try to build on the groundwork of artists such as Autumn, and try to take their vision to exciting new places. I also try to build on my own previous work. Other than that, inspiration can come from anywhere, a childeren's book... a picture in a magazine... the possibilities are endless. Do you consider yourself more important than the other seasons, because you host the christmas festival each year? It is not superiority that one gains from such a thing; merely individuality. That is the whole essence of my art... there is little more satisfying than a well executed christmas, but once it is over, it does not do to dwell on it. Besides, the other seasons do not envy it; they have their own unique festivals and events to take care of. If you could meet any character from history, who would it be? Well... I would very much like to meet William Wordsworth, or William Blake again. Or Richard the third. If you had to be marooned on a desert island, what five records would you want to have with you? The first would have to be Vivaldi's Four Season's Concerto number four, simply because I see it as in a way my personal 'theme music'; you know, like in Ally Mcbeal? The second would be the soundtrack to south pacific, for when I am in the mood for something lighthearted. Although being stranded on a desert island, that might not be particularly often. After that I think, any one of Van Morrison's live albums, and perhaps a jazz compilation. Yes, I think that would do perfectly. If you were an episode of FRIENDS, what would you be called? Erm... "The one which is really cold"? what kind of website is this where that is a frequently asked question? If you ever got bored of your job, what other career path would you follow? Hmm... I'm not a bad cellist, although in some respects I think I'd rather conduct. I could be the next Leonard Bernstein! Although when I was a child, I just wanted to play chess for a living! Ah, the days of frivolous youth. Do you have any pets? I have a beautiful pedigree persian cat, whose name is Elgar. I also have a large, white labrador named Kringle. Thats my frivolous side coming out again! I've always wanted an ornamental koi pond, but I've never got around to building one. Have you got any tips for someone who wants to get involved in the type of work that you do? Yes. First of all, be serious about it. Secondly, with regards to snow, always leave them wanting more. In my opinion, however, it is better for you to experiment and find your own niche or area of expertise. Have you ever had any major arguments or creative disagreements with your colleagues? Not really. There was this one occasion, when Autumn overdid it a bit on the rain, and some of us had vast tracts of unwanted ice all over the place where people could slip on them. Or that time Summer decided to go and get herself arrested for indecent UV exposure, and the rest of us had to do a whole month's worth of overtime to make up for it. That was quite turbulant, it turned out to be one very interesting month. The met office started getting complaints! Thankyou for taking the time out of your busy schedule to come and talk to us. We hope you will visit us again! Don't worry, my schedule is only busy because I agree to do things like this. |
