Mission Bookcase    (65h x 36s x 14d)
Similar to the night stands, the back of the Bookcases are made from 3/8" thick, tongue and grooved, solid oak. . .not plywood.

There is an added design element on the bookcase.  Both sides of the bookcase are accented with a simple, yet bold arrow cut-out that is centered along the traditional split design of the side panels.
Here are just some of the features that set us apart from our competition:

Quartersawn Oak:
Our Mission Line is made authentic by using the historically preferred and aesthetically appealing Quartersawn Oak throughout most of the pieces.  This Oak is cut in such a way as to showcase the beautiful flecks in the Oak.  It is (and was) also used because it is a more dimensionally stable cut than any other cut of an Oak tree.  We use 5/4 Quartersawn Oak for our tops, rift and quarter for our sides, and flat sawn is used in place where you are going to see the exposed quartersawn edge.

Mortise and Tenon Joinery:
We use mortise and tenon joinery throughout our Mission furniture.  This method is also preferred for its strength.  However, there are a few places within the style where mortise and tenon was not used then, and should not be used now.  For example dowels are often used, in a similar joinery method.

Hand-Made Pulls:
To maintain that authentic look our door and drawer pulls are handmade.  These handmade pulls are some of the only metal to be found in this line.  There are also screws in elongated slots used to hold the tops of items like the chest of drawers down, and to allow for expansion so that they can shift without damaging or breaking the tops.

Solid Lumber:
Our Mission Line of furniture is also constructed primarily of solid lumber, as opposed to partical board, veneer, or any other such product.

Dovetail Drawers:
All of the drawers on this line are dovetailed on all four corners using an English dovetail.  We also use wood on wood drawer slides.  We use Baltic Birch plywood for our drawers in the interest of strength.  Solid wood can bow, check, crach or warp.  Plywood will alleviate all of these problems, making it the best material for drawers.

Custom Color:
We mix the color for the Mission line in our shop, and apply 3 coats of finish and then a black wax for a uniquely rich appearance.
Mission Bed          (available in Twin, Full, Queen, and King)
In the true style of Mission furniture, we used a solid design.  We have 2 1/4" posts, unlike the often less than 1 3/4" posts that other companies use for their Mission furniture.

In a feature used for strength, and not just authenticity, the bed rail is supported by a 1"long, 3/4" thick, and 5" wide mortise and tenon joint. (close-up shown to the left)
Mission Chest of Drawers                   (35 1/2h x 66w x 21d)
The top is built with bread board ends, as it used to be built.  The ends are glued along 1/3rd of the surface and attached with two 1/8"  dowels, to allow for the natural expansion of the wood.

The back of the Chest of Drawers is made from 3/8" tongue and grooved solid Cedar, unlike the commonly used Cedar Veneer plywood.  Cedar is used for protection against insects and the pleaseant scent.  However, we took the Cedar out of the drawers because it often stains clothing.
Mission Mirror    (49 1/2" x 37 3/4")
The Mission Mirror makes a beautiful addition to the already impressive chest of drawers.

Its arched design gives the set an added flair that compliments the arch at the bottom of the chest.
Mission Night Stand                            (26 1/2h x 24 1/2w x 17 1/4d)
The back of the Night Stands are made from 3/8" thick, tongue and grooved, solid oak, as opposed to plywood.

This piece also has a pull out writing surface just below the top.
