News from the Board

May 7, 2009

1. The next Board Meeting will be held June 8, 2009 at Gunston Elementary School. The meeting begins at 7 pm.

2. The Board is happy to announce that Phase I of the lighting has been completed as well as the sprinkler system at the green. Phase II lighting is in the works and you will soon be seeing lights in other areas of the community and a fountain is planned for the pond.

3. Spring is here and it is time for all to start sprucing up and taking pride in our community. The Management Company will be conducting a walk through citing homeowners for any violations to the covenants. We ask that you respond if you receive a notice.

4. One of the issues discussed at meetings is the thousand of dollars that we have spent to address vandalism. Braking slates at the gazebo, graffiti and stolen hardware at the tot lots, broken tree branches, trash and riding bikes on the banks of the pond are not acceptable. Now that we have a sprinkler system at the green it has been noted that children are having fun playing with the nozzles, not acceptable. It is easy to blame outsiders for everything but this is really not the case, some children in the community have been identified and do not seem to have respect for other peoples/community property. We should all make an effort to keep our common areas attractive and to keep our expenses down. This is your money that is being spent and it should be going for other projects that enhance our community.

5. Parking Violations- The Board continues to receive complaints from residents about cars being parked on the sidewalks and hanging out over driveways obstructing idewalks. This impedes people walking through the neighborhood, children needing to use the street instead of the sidewalk and problems with vehicles entering and exiting driveways. This is a fire and safety hazard and a Fairfax County Ordinance violation, the police will target cars and the HOA will ticket violators.
