Part 2
Had a
dream
Had a
drowning dream
I was in a
river of pain
The only
difference this time
I wasn’t
calling out your name, yeah
Has it
ended before it’s begun?
You hold
on
And I try
to run
Anybody
heading in my direction?
Away from
the city
Anybody
wanna change the way they feel?
Step
inside
Doesn’t
really matter where you wanna take me
Away from
the city
I wanna
start again
I wanna
start again
I wanna
take it back
I wanna
start again
Funny how
those friends forget you
When you
tire of their games
You miss a
show or a party that blows
And
they’ve forgotten your name, yeah
And you
wonder what you’ve become
They pull
you back when you try to run
Well,
anybody heading in my direction?
Away from
the city
Anybody
wanna change the way they feel?
Step
inside
Doesn’t
really matter where you wanna take me
Away from
the city
I wanna
start again
I wanna
start again
I wanna
take it back
I wanna
start again
I left the
me I used to be
If only
you’d see it too
Well I
wonder what you’ve become
You pull
me back when I try to run
Well,
anybody heading in my direction?
Away from
the city
Anybody
wanna change the way they feel?
Step
inside
Doesn’t
really matter where you wanna take me
Away from
the city
I wanna
start again
I wanna
start again
I wanna
take it back
I wanna
start again

Joey
sat in Sara’s apartment. It had been a
week since she had left Dawson. He had
called a few times, asking her to come back, but she readily refused. He hadn’t called for two days and Joey was
incredibly relieved.
Sara
walked into the living room where Joey was idly flipping through the channels. Sara looked oddly similar to Joey, though a
little shorter. She had shoulder length
brown hair and the same half smile as Joey.
Some people said that they could easily be mistaken as sisters.
“Going out with David tonight?” Joey asked.
“Yup,” Sara replied. “By the
way, Eileen called.”
“Eileen Summers?” Joey asked, rather surprised.
“Yeah, that’s it,” Sara said as she began to put her earrings in.
“What did she want?”
“I
don’t know, she just said for you to call her back.”
Joey
got out her address book from her purse and got out her cell phone as
well. Eileen Summers was in charge of
personel.
“Eileen Summers’ office,” the personal assistant answered.
“Ruth? Its Joey Leery,” Joey
said, almost wincing at her own name.
She needed
to give notice that she was changing her name.
“Oh,
hi, Mrs. Leery, Miss Summers has been expecting your call. Let me connect you to her office.”
“Okay, thanks.”
Joey
waited a moment as the hold music played.
It couldn’t possibly be true...
“Hello, Joey?”
“Oh,
hello Miss Summers, I got your message.”
“Oh,
please call me Eileen.”
“Okay, Eileen.”
“Well, Joey, I have just got word from the New York branch that you got
the transfer and promotion!”
Joey’s eyes widened and she grinned.
“Oh
my God! Thank you!”
“Oh,
don’t you be thanking me. Your talent
is what got you it.”
“Wow... um, thank you.”
Eileen laughed.
“Its
no problem, Joey. I’ll let you go
rejoice.”
Both
of them laughed as they hung up.
“I
got the job!” Joey squealed.
Sara
rushed into the room.
“You
got it?” she asked excitedly.
“Yes!”
“Oh
my God!” they both screamed as they jumped up and down and hugged each other.
Joey’s face was flushed as she laughed and jumped around excitedly.
“I’m
taking you to dinner!” Sara insisted.
Joey
shook her head.
“No,
you go with David, we can celebrate tomorrow.”
“You
sure?”
“Positive... oh, do you think your sister’s place is still open for me
to stay for a little while?”
“Oh
yeah, Sandra will be more than thrilled.
She likes you anyhow, and her last roommate was a complete moron. She left... but unfortunately Sandra still
needs to pay the rent while she gets through school...”
Joey
grinned. Things were falling into place
perfectly.
“We’ll call her tonight,” Sara said.
“Okay... God, I’m so excited!” Joey said as she fell back on to the
couch.
There was a knock on the door.
“I’ll get it... its probably David,” Sara said as she went to answer it.
Joey
let out a big sigh of relief as she plopped down on the couch. She was going to New York. She could start over fresh... without
Dawson.
“She
doesn’t want to see you,” Joey heard Sara say.
She
sat up a little and listened.
“She’s my wife, and I’ll talk to her if I want to,” Dawson said,
storming past her.
“Not
for long,” Sara muttered.
“Joey,” Dawson said as he knelt down by the couch she was sitting on.
“What?” she asked, beginning to get more than aggitated.
“Please reconsider-”
“No!” Joey said loudly.
She
groaned in frustration.
“Joey, just give it another chance,” he pleaded.
“No,
Dawson it is over,” she replied, enunciating every word.
“But
I love you!” he cried.
Joey
sighed and closed her eyes.
“But
I don’t love you... not anymore,” Joey said firmly, no longer being so careful
with his heart.
She
had had enough. He just couldn’t take
no for an answer.
“I
don’t believe that,” he said firmly.
She
clenched her fists in frustration.
“What will it take for you to leave me alone?” she yelled.
“Come back with me.”
“No,
we’re getting divorced Dawson... that’s it.
Final.”
“Not
if I can help it,” he said with quiet determination.
Joey
turned cautiously towards him.
“What do you mean?” she asked.
“I’ll fight it... Every step of the way. I’m not giving you up without a fight.”
Tears of anger and frustration built up in her eyes.
“Good-bye, Dawson. Get out.”
“But, Joey-”
“OUT!” she yelled at him.
She
got out and began pushing him towards the door with angry shoves. She got him all the way out the door and
slammed it in his face.
“Damn it!” she yelled.
She
felt herself beginning to cry. She was
so frustrated. Why wouldn’t he just
leave her alone? She needed to get away
more than ever.
“Sara? When’s the soonest time
possible for me to go to New York?”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
With bags in hand, Joey walked up to Sandra’s apartment door the very next day after she had told Dawson that she no longer loved him.
