New ISI propaganda As usual, Pakistan is making another attempt to defame Mr. Ahmad Shah Massoud by associating him with India and Indian contribution in the non-stop Afghan war. In this attempt, ISI instructs Dr. Jassim Taqui to claim that Massoud has been receiving funds from India to continue the the war in Afghanistan. This is something that Taliban could not think of so ISI is doing the job for them. These claims or completely bases less and just a method to create doubts in the minds of Afghans in regards to Mr. Massoud. Ignoring the important role and responsibility of media, Frontier Post allows for it's staff and associates to publish baseless propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, to the direct benefit of Pakistani secrete service, ISI. Taliban are created by USA and Pakistan, and are meant to serve different purposes for each of these governments. USA hoped to be able to use Taliban against Iran and Pakistan likes to use them against India. But Iran and India failed to take sufficient and practical measures to counter this evil force which could go destroying everything. Iran spent millions of dollars to carry out military exercises near Afghanistan borders in 1998 hoping to scare Taliban and ISI away. If these funds were spent inside Afghanistan to buy back some of the unmorally commanders who joined Taliban, and to ignite the engine of rehabilitation of the northern civilizations. This, most certainly would have proven more effective and a demonstration of Iran's claimed sympathy towards the people of Afghanistan. On the other hand, India is the prime target where Taliban will be deployed, should Pakistani generals feel a military confrontation with India is needed. Knowing the rootlessness of Taliban, India must do everything to defeat ISI in it's dirty mission. It is absolutely a must that India pays top dollars to counter this threat by helping the Afghans. If there was half a million dollars coming in monthly from India, the northern alliance would have not had to print new Afghani notes. Putting our trust in Allah, as a nation we look up to Massoud and people like him to counter this evil force of darkness from swallowing the entire country. It doesn't matter what one may say about Massoud, the history is busy highliging his name with silver and gold ink already. Thanks to Allah for giving us "Massoud of Afghanistan". |
Masood sets terms for renouncing war
From Dr JASSIM TAQUI Frontier Post - March 21, 1999 ISLAMABAD - Ahmad Shah Masood, the warlord fighting the Taliban militia in Northern Afghanistan, is now demanding half a million dollar per month to stop fighting and to engage in the peace process, a confidant of the Taliban said here. The source said that Masood was taking half a million dollar from India as a price of continues the civil war in Afghanistan. "Now, Masood wants a compensation for his lost income," the source said. According to the Taliban, Ahmad Shah Masood was compelled to hold peace talks with the militia since many of his field commanders showed dismay at continuing fighting and killing fellow Afghans. Among those who are now opposing Masood his field commander Fahim. Taliban militia also suspects the intentions of Ahmad Shah Masood since he continues to fight even during talks. It has an apprehension that Masood's acceptance of peace might be a tactical move to win time before a major Taliban attack on the remaining areas controlled by the Northern Alliance, which would be launched in the coming summer. While welcomed as a major step towards lasting peace, the deal between Taliban and Ahmad Shah Masood fell short for an immediate ceasefire and left many questions as to how power would be shared unanswered. On the prospect of peace talks, Taliban militia maintains that under no circumstances it would compromise its Islamic orientation. "Islamic system in Afghanistan is an irreversible process. No power on earth can reverse this. And Taliban made it very clear to the UN envoy Lakhdar Brahimi that if he planned to bring secular forces to appease the United States or India, there would be no deal with Taliban," the source added. On power sharing, the Taliban said that the militia would not surrender more than 10 per cent to Masood. It also rejected to share power with other components of the Northern Alliance; since they do not control any area." For the Taliban, the agreement was agree don with Ahmad Shah Masood and did not mean that a coalition government would be formed in the future. Masood led a powerful, mainly ethnic Tajik guerilla force for years in the fight against the Soviet occupation, and several attempts to drive him from his lair in the Panjshir Valley, northeast of Kabul, failed. His forces are in the northern opposition coalition alliance, which controls little of the country after a major summer offensive by the Taliban last year. |
