This was one of the first movies I had to check out of September. When I first watched the trailer, I knew this was going to be good. Why? Because the hero of the movie goes after members of the Paparazzi and gets revenge on their asses. The premise of the movie is simple. Boo Laramie (Cole Hauser) is a newly grown movie star that just starred in a big hit in Hollywood. So now he's living the high life with his family and his millions. So we all know what comes with fame right? The Paparazzi. They can't wait to get some snapshots of tinsel towns newest member, so they start snapping photos of Boo's family on thier property, etc. Eventually, Boo and his family get caught by the Paparazzi on the road which leads into an accident that sends his family to the hospital with some serious injuries. And like the bastard pricks they are, the Paparazzi don't call for an ambulance, nope. They get out of their cars and snap some pictures. While they're doing this, Boo opens his eyes to catch a quick glance of who did this to his family - the good stuff begins. Throughout the rest of the movie, we see Boo making strides to get revenge against all the Paparazzi members that he saw around his wrek that night. I'm not gonna go on, since I don't want to spoil anything. This movie was interesting to me because of the fact that this is a stab at the Paparazzi pretty much. We all know, they are some of the worse people in the world. This movie generated some bad vibes because of the theme, but I think the critics and real life paparazzi should shut the hell up. They say this is a reference to the Princess Di tradegy, but I think thats bullsh*t. And why are the Paparazzi angry for? Last time I checked, movies were entertainment and not real. So they should learn to lighten up. Besides, this movie isn't all lies. Yeah, it goes a little extreme, but the idea is there. That Paparazzi are the kind of people that like to invade people's privacy. If I ever break into the mainstrem scene, I know I probably won't be able to deal with that. Its frustrating. The acting is pretty good. Tom Sizemore steals the show. He's so evil and plays the part well, he was suited for it. Hauser is alright, but I think I prefer him more as a villain like in 2 Fast 2 Furious. Anyway, the bad side of the movie is that its boring in some parts, and you don't feel anything for the hero. You're supposed to feel sorry for his family and then cheer him on when he busts a cap on a paprazzi crew member, but you start to hate him a little. I don't know if its the actor or the character. He just doesn't that have that trigger like Frank Castle (The Punisher) or The Bride (Kill Bill) did, in their own revenge flicks. So other then that, its an ok watch. I'll most likely be getting it on DVD. There are some cameos in this movie like Mel Gibson (since he produced it) and Chris Rock. They make the movie more real and give it that Hollywood fell, like Boo is actually in a real world and not a made up Hollywood setting. Check this out if you have nothing better to do, but it isn't a 'must-see'. Either watch it in theaters on a boring day, or catch the DVD release. |

I knew what Cellular was like, and I was expecting it to be a good just like the trailer was. Boy was I right, for the firs time ever I expected the movie to be just like how I thought it would be. The same writer of Phone Booth was the writer for this one. So it looked interesting. We start of getting to know Jessica Martin for a minute then we get to know Ryan for 3 minutes and the cop. Finally Ryan receives a phone call from Jessica mysteriously and he thinks its all a prank, then Jessica really tries hard to get 10 minutes out of Ryan's time to get to the cops, so being the nice guy he is, he goes to the cops and they check it out but something happens, so on and so forth and business picks up. So after that you get Ryan trying to figure out what is happening and breaking the law by speeding and everything just to save this family. So you get the point, now was I impressed? For sure I was, Of course you may want to leave your brain at the door but I came to see this movie to eat popcorn and to be entertained and I was. It's a great old school 90-minute movie, recently its all CGI action movies but this one is all out good. It makes a great rental and a great Saturday night date or friend flick. The movie has good action scenes and humour. William H. Macy is hilarious in this, alongside Chris Evans. The acting was pretty good in this and the directing was good too. The people I saw it with enjoyed it and they thought it were better than they expected. This movie is a great example of a "Thriller" it thrilled me the entire time and didn't disappoint me. It's a fun sweet ride. Jason Statham is also a creepy bad guy here. The guy cant act but he's great to watch playing these roles. Basinger is a MILF in the movie and Chris Evans remind me of me. So if your thinking of a movie to see put your money towards Cellular because it is highly watch able, silly and fun. It's a perfect B movie. I suggest you see it. I will be buying it when it comes out on DVD, but your better of seeing it now then waiting 6 months. Gold Award! |

Sorry for the late review, but the wait was worth it. So I just saw the first one and boy did that disappoint. First of the first was boring, didn't make sense but it was somewhat cool. It is forgettable and hard to watch the second time, but this new one topped the original big time. So we start the movie off where the first one was left out. The city is infested with flesh eating zombies and the civilians are going insane. You know the rest. Now there are plenty of action scenes that I enjoyed watching, and I only looked at my watch once. Mike Epps was hilarious in the movie; he is one of those token black guys in it. The movie had good comedy and the effects were somewhat good. The movie surprised me a lot because it's so much better than the original. The zombies looked cool and the Nemesis looked badass. Jill Valentine was very bad ass and the character Alice was great to. I never played the Resident Evil games a lot so I am not sure if it had anything to do with the plot. Speaking of the plot, it was pretty much bad. Paul W.S Anderson who directed the original and wrote this one, and also wrote and direct the shitfest AVP, did the same with this one. The plot was stupid and made no sense. Just like the rest of his movies. Like the bad guys in this movie made Nemesis bad to kill people and save the zombies? For what reason? Why are these guys bad? Just stick with a Dawn Of The Dead type of story or something. I had no idea what was going on. The only think in my mind was that the people were trying to save themselves, so leave your brain at the door with this one, you'll thank me when you do it. Also there is no ending in the movie, it leaves the door open to another movie like all horror's. I wonder why movies like these drops? Because their endings are dumb then people think its dumb. Just made a movie good and have an ending to it. So don't be expecting an ending with this movie, a three is in the works. So the only negatives about this movie were the ending and the storyline, it did not make sense and the ending didn't explain anything. I was disappointed in that. But there are many more positives. The action was great and the directing and action highly entertaining. It was worth to watch for free, and probably 7 bucks to watch and when it comes out on DVD ill buy it, because it is worth to watch again. So if you got nothing to do and what to be entertained, watch this movie. Their have been shit movies in the past month, so check out Collateral, if you saw that one.. Watch Resident Evil 2 then. It is much better then the first, and I wasn't disappointed like I was with AVP. It's an entertaining movie. Also a word of advise if they make a third one this series. DO NOT PUT PAUL W.S ANDERSON IN THIS MOVIE. MAKE SURE HE IS NOT CONNECTED TO IT. The guy can't write. He Can be a character in it and die, sorry Paul but you can't write. But yah the movie was entertaining, Maybe you dont need to rush and see it but I am expecting you to see it. Watch this instead of the boring Sky Captain! 7.5 out of 10! |
Wimbledon wasn't one of the movies of September that I was planning on seeing, or even hyped for. To me, it was just another romantic comedy that I'll catch on PPV or something. But not worth my time in theaters. But then I found out my girlfriend wanted to see it, and of course you can't let your wife catch this alone. Besides, it was either this or Princess Diaries 2, and I didn't see the first one so this was it. I was pretty surprised. It was better than I expected. From watching the trailer, I thought this was gonna the basic - Boy is depressed, boy meets special girl, girl motivates boy, boy grows more confidence. Or in this case, boy gets better at tennis. The story is pretty simple. Peter (Paul Bettany) is a pretty boy tennis player who is ranked pretty low in Wimbledon standings. He's one of those up tight guys who plays classy and whatever. So he's in a slum because he may not win the tourny this year, until he meets Lizzy (Kirsten Dunst) during a practice session. They get to know each other, the works. Lizzy turns out to be the opposite of Peter. Shes the rebellious and care free type. So they fall in as the movie goes on, and she even helps him beat her ex-boyfriend in the final game by telling him some of his moves. Even though its called Wimbledon, the movie has pretty much nothing to do with tennis. Its all about the love story. Dunst and Bettany have good chenistry on screen, so thats always good in romantic comedies. The acting was alright. Nothing special. One thing that I thought was funny, was that during ther final match between Peter and Lizzy's ex, they are moving so friggin fast, it looked like CG. CG in a romantic comedy is jokes. I guess everything needs CG these days. Next thing you know, cartoons will be next. Oh wait... Anyway, there was nothing new here. It was your usual chick flick. I missed some parts of the movie, since me and the wife got comfy (RAWR). But it was good, and like I said, better than expected. I'd only recommend for those who want to take their girlfriends out for a movie. Its better than taking them to a movie like RE2. Unless watching zombies turns them on or something. So in the end, Wimbledon is there for what it is - a chick flick. Other then that, there are movies to check out this week and...and this month. Silver! |

I was really looking forward to watch this movie and I was expecting to rate it a 7 or a 8. But I guess I was wrong. Reasons may vary. Well we got Telly who lost her son and she is seeing a shrink and as the days go by people start saying she is making these up. For example in day 1, Telly thinks she had coffee beside her, but her shrink said she never did, they go on and talk about her son. The next say she see's the shrink and the shrink (played by Gary Sinese) says she never had a son. So this keeps going on and Telly wonders what is going on. Bla Bla Bla. So is the movie good? No it's not. Is it bad? No it's not. The movie has humor in it, it was pretty funny. You need humor in all movies and this one had enough. The performances were well liked. Julianne More is great. The plot is a bit twisted and messed up, oh well. So this equals a pretty boring movie. Some scenes were really borin and confusing and didn't explain too much. It got quite predictable and more so borring. There are about three scenes in the movie that get you jumping. The whole theatre went nuts. I got to say that was pretty good. I can't really go on with the review because it will pretty much spoil the movie, so I am just going to say that watch the movie and decide if you like it or not. I thought it was ok. I am not going to buy it, ill probably see it again when it's on TV but that's about it. It is a forgettable movie and I won't be talking about it much. I was a bit disappointed because some parts were confusing and boring and the ending was weird, it wasn't a good ending to me. It wasn't a sequel type ending but more so of a crap ending. It didn't leave me thinking or anything. So I will be giving this the silver award a 5 out of 5. If you miss this movie in theatres, it's not the end of the world. The best way to watch this movie is with a girl or a guy, depending what gender you are and watching it Saturday night alone. Just rent it on a cold Saturday night and watch it with the wife and relax. The movie well most likely be better like that. So just wait till this one hits the rental shelves. |
