So I went to go check this movie out and I was pretty hyped. Did I leave happy? Yeah I did. I don't think this movie was better than Remember The Titans but I think the football scenes were the best of all time. So the movie is about a high school football team who are all 17 year olds. Keep in mind, these guys don't look 17. They look pretty old, but then again Hollywood makes 10 year olds look like 30 year olds. COUGH*ROBIN WILLIAMS IN JACK*. Anywho, this is the last season for these players and they are pressured to win Texas State and live every moment. The town is crazy about football and they skip work just to watch the game at the school. From the opening to the end, the movie is very entertaining and watch able. The football scenes are intense and make you shiver if someone gets tackled. These football scenes are the best I have seen. The performances are great and I didn't see a bad one. The character development is great on the football players. Billy played Coach Gaines very great. This is a movie that everyone should see. If you're a sports fan than this one is for you. If you're not a sports fan this one is still for you to see. The camera work in the movie is good and it puts you in the situation and director Peter Berg did this great. A football movie should be filmed like this. Comedy was in this movie for sure and emotional scenes. There were negatives in the movie as well. They were that the movie only had like 3 games and it felt like the season was a little to short. Also the coach's character wasn't well developed in the movie. I couldn't tell if Coach Gaines was a good coach or a bad one. It also looked as if the team only had one practice. The movie could have shown more of team practice and hot to get the team to win. It could have cut out some scenes like the quarterback calling his brother because his mom is sick and other scenes and more practice time and the coach giving them speeches to win. But I forgot about the negatives because the movie wanted me to play football and live the last days of my teenage years unforgettable. It also showed how American high school football kicks ass and how everyone is into it. The movie was memorable and I will buy it on DVD. Now for you guys, you don't need to rush and see this movie at the theatre's but if you want to see a movie and don't know what to see then I would go with this. I definitely recommend renting this one it comes out. So the movie gets an 8 out of 10. I enjoyed it and it was worth my 7 bucks. It's up to see you if you want to see it, but I for sure recommend you see it at theatre's or on DVD. But when you see this movie, you wont be disappointed. |

I wasn't really hyped for seeing Ladder 49, but I went to go see it anyway because someone else wanted to see it. Ladder 49 is more of a rental then a view at the movies. Overall the movie wasn't that bad. It's about a fire fighter named Jack, or I think it was Jake. He's stuck in a building that's on fire and their looking for him, while he's injured down there he reflects on the past 10 years of his life as a fire fighter. He remembers the good times with his boys, how he met his wife and all the great rescues he did. Ladder 49 is more of a drama than it is a action. It's considered a drama. The movie was not bad and it was worth to see. The movie came to show you how fire fighters are and how they risk their lives everyday to save people like us. They sacrifice Christmas and nights, etc to serve and protect. That's' what I liked about this people. It comes to show you that there are great people out their with families who are saving us. Fire fighters should get paid a lot more. You got rich executives who do shit all and get paid millions, when these fire fighters risk their lives and bust their ass everyday. They should be the ones getting all that. So the movie was good, there was more drama than action but I accepted that fact because this is a drama. The performances were great. The guys at Ladder 49 are all jokers and look like slackers, but right when that bell rings because someone needs helps they stop what their doing and get right to business and hurt to the scene. That's what I like about these characters, they have fun and joke around all the time but right when the bell rings they know it's not fun time. Director Jay Russell made this film well in his perspective and I enjoyed watching it and seeing John Travolta finally back in a good movie. Joaquin Phoenix was cool in the movie too and expect him to be a big name soon. The comedy in the movie was funny to with all the pranks these guys play on each other. Overall, Ladder 49 was good to watch and it wasn't that bad. It's well worth a look, if you miss it then just rent it because it would be a solid rental, but Ladder 49 also makes this a perfect Saturday Night theatre movie. Don't expect all action though; expect something that you will respect. I'm not sure if I'll but it when it comes out, since my budget is going down, but it will be out in probably March so ill get it. The final say is, Ladder 49 is worth it. |

I went to catch Sharktale instead of Taxi because I felt like seeing Sharktale. The movie was pretty short but it was hilarious. I laughed so much when they had the walk of fames for Jessica Shrimpson, Mussel Crowe, etc. It was jokes and the Rastafarian guys were funny. The movie was about Oscar (Smith) who makes a deal with a good and shy shark (Jack Black). The deal was that Lenny the shark could live in the fish town only if it looked like as if Oscar beat him up so he can become rich and famous. It's a pretty basic plot for the kids to understand. The movie was easy to follow and it had comedy and action for the kids and adult jokes for us adults. I'm usually not into these types of movies but after watching this, it comes to show you that these animation movies are funny too. This is great for kids to watch so they can have a great animation on what's under the sea. The movie deserves to go past 200 Million and It better stay in first next week for the third straight week because this movie was too much. I enjoyed watching it and if I had kids I'm sure they would like this to. It's was funny to because it has all famous mob lines like a shrimp says "Say Hello, to My little Friends!" and a whole bunch of shrimp popped out. The music was old Mafioso music that made it funny to. Robert De Niro's Shark Don Vito was funny too. Jack Black's voice was perfect to, and it was funny that the character's looks liked their voices. It was hard to hear Will Smith as Oscar, but it was fun. Their was nothing wrong with the voices. One problem about the movie was probably the underwater thing. Finding Nemo looked like it took place under water a lot, it showed a lot more than this film, but Finding Nemo had a bigger budget and less money on star power so that explains it. Sharktale is a fun film for everyone to watch and ill probably buy it when it comes out on DVD. It was fun to see and cute. Worth a watch at the movies and worth a movie to be owned. Sharktale gets an eight! |

In Japan, there is a curse that if you die in the grip of a powerful rage, you will kill people in a powerful rage. Those who encounter this curse die in and endless growing chain of horror. Get it? In English, a house is cursed, someone who enters it is going to die, and if they don't die they'll keep seeing the curse until they die. So this plot is good. This could be one scary ass movie. But was The Grudge all hype? Not really. The Grudge is mixed with shock effect and laughter. We start of with some one committing suicide, that leads to a huge jump and the theatre laughs out loud. It was pretty jokes, and then we lead on into the house and the people who live in it. There is a crazy women who lives in the house and Sokhi who is a social worker, helps her and she goes upstairs only to find out shell be dead. That scenes was pretty freaky. Then we get the substitute Social worker (Gellar) to come in and sort things out because Soki is missing. That's when it all starts and people start dieing. We get flashbacks a lot, with no sign that it happened before. You get confused at first what the present is and what the past is. This is where the directing got annoying. The movie had present scenes then all of a sudden it would go back 7 days ago. Most directors make it, so you can tell the scene is going in the past, but this one didn't which made the directing in this movie not all that good. The movie then goes on with the past and present and gets easy to follow. The supernatural curse then makes a noise that gets annoying and sounds just like Alien. The movie mixes scary jump scenes and laughter. Their was would be freaky parts and everyone would scream, then laugh about it after. The whole movie was like that, which is not bad but Grudge is supposed to be a horror; it was a bit of both. I was disappointed with the outcome because this movie could have been so much more. The ending was very lame, opening it up for a sequel, just like every other horror movie. The Grudge could have been written better and extended to a 2-hour movie. It was only 90mins and their could have been so much more for this movie. If it was a 2-hour horror fest with a decent ending like The Ring was. This could have been the next big horror movie. The Ring is still the champ though. Sarah Michelle Gellar is not the top star here as everyone would think she is. There is not much character build in this movie since it had no time, it was just a horror/laugh fest. The movie gets a 7, it lost three because it could have been more than just what it is now. It could have been nightmare freaky and a great word of mouth. But it also gets a Gold award because this is the type of movie you got to see at the movies. The shock scenes were so jumpy and then the laughter was so much fun. This is a movie that will be better catching in theatres. I enjoyed watching this, I will probably buy it too when it comes out on DVD. Stoners will enjoy this movie because it is trippy and most of you will enjoy since it's fun in the theatre's. It's Halloween and Grudge is the movie for it. Go see The Grudge, it's not The Ring, but it's a fun ride at the movies. |

Saw -Released October 29th, 2004 -Lions Gate -Carey Elwes, Danny Glover -Written by Jay - 10/31/04 -Score: 10/10 - PLATINUM Award! |
"Saw" is most definitely the best psycho thriller in years. The story is about two men who wake up in the dark in a busted up washroom, with there ankles chained up to a locked post. In the middle of this is a dead man who shot himself with a gun in his hand and blood all over him. A Voice then is heard to tell them the only way they can get out of there is by killing each other, or else they will rot. The only clues they got in this washroom is a portable cassette player and a tape found in their pockets for them to hear and a saw. A saw to cut their chains off so they think, but really it's to saw of your ankle. Saw opens up with the two characters Dr. Gordon and photographer Adam. They have no idea who each other are. They get to know each other and try to figure out how they are going to get out of there. Dr. Gordon explains who might have done this, who is known as "The Jigsaw Killer" and a series of flashbacks is shown explaining the events around The Jigsaw Killer and a detective and his obsession over this case about The Jigsaw Killer. The fragments also tell the story of the two men locked up before this event. Dr. Gordon and Adam try very hard to find a way out but all they can find is clues such as a key in Dr. Gordon's pocket and a heart drawn on a toilet. The situation worsens as the clues don't get them out of their, but only makes them more desperate and more crazy to get out of their. The story is told very well with opening up with the present and presenting a series of flashbacks to explain more of this story and learn more about the jigsaw killer character. First time director James Wan is awesome how he presents this making you want more and more easily understanding that the flashbacks are actually flashbacks. Saw was a great movie to watch in theatres and the best movie I have seen in awhile since Collateral. It's not a movie that will scare you but it will gross you out with the disturbing images and the theme of a psycho killer who is just perverted. Saw was just to good of a story and just entertained. Like The Grudge, it had scenes were you weren't suppose to laugh, you just laughed at how stupid it was. With Saw there are scenes that are attended to make you laugh, and laugh big time, but saw was attended for you to enjoy and it delivered that well. The acting was so-so but the plot just kept you guessing. The movie made you guess a lot on who the killer was, then thinking it wasn't the person you suspected and so on. Keep in mind when you watch this movie that you watch it completely and don't miss anything, because the clues in this movie will help you find out what happens in the movie. Saw will keep you in your seat, not looking at your watch and it will make you talk about it after. Saw also doesn't have your lame horror endings, it's got a great ending and leaving you to think how big of a dumb ass you are for not figuring out the predictability. Saw gets the perfect 10 for all the reasons above and you must see this in theatres right away. I will for sure buy this on DVD. |
