13 Going On 30
-Released August 3rd, 2004
-Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo
-Written by Kev - 08/09/04
-SCORE: 6/10 - Silver Award
The Movie: Basically this is the female version of BIG. This is Jennifer Garner's first leading role and she does a good job. The story is about a young girl named Jenna who's life is going the way she wants. Her parents bother her, she can't hang with the cool kids at school, this guy she likes doesn't even know she exists. She's pretty much a loser. So during her birthday she gets locked in a closet and makes a wish that she wants to be older, and boom....she gets her wish. She wakes up with some dude and she realizes that she's 30 years old. The movie is pretty funny, since Jenna knows nothing about the times and stuff. Garner is the hightlight of the movie. She makes you feel all happy inside (more ways than one...*CENSORED*). This is a great movie to watch with your wife, husband, or anyone you're close to. Definitely worth a pickup if you're in the mood for a romantic comedy.

The Disc: The disc has great quality. Break out the Dolby and you got a perfect experience on your hands. That's what its like with most DVDs. You can't get this stuff with VHS. Thats why DVDs rule!

The Features: Not too stacked but the features are good enough. You got plenty of deleted scenes to look at, and as always bloopers are always great. Its funny to see people mess up their lines and stuff. There are some decent featurettes here about how they made the movie, the usual. Its all good stuff here. 13 Going On 30 did pretty good at the box office so this amount is expected.

Overall: Though it got a gold award, the score is 6 out of 10, so its not exactly HIGH on the gold meter. Pick this up if you want to add it to your collection. Its not a bad movie at all but its all personal taste. If you're a fan of romantic comedies then this is a good add-on to your DVD library.
The Movie: Ok I didn't expect this movie to be funny, but the beginning to the end of the movie is pure jokes. I noticed black people are hilarious and this was like the funniest movies I have seen in a while. It's like Vacation goes ghetto in this. Bow Wow and Beyonce's sister can't act, but they did good enough to entertain me. The movie is about this family going on a road trip to the Johnson family reunion. On their way there is lots of antics and crazy stuff happening on their way there. Its all jokes this movie and Cedric will make you die; this is good to see with your friends, but mostly to watch with the family. If you want to die laughing then watch this for sure. It's definitely worth the rent.

The Disc: The quality of the film is excellent and the colours show nicely and the audio is great as well. The disc itself sucks because it's a flip-sided one and it says wide screen and full screen. It's sad because the disc can scratch easily and threes no picture. But the quality and sound is excellent.

The Features:
The movie was a hit. With a 10 million dollar budget, it grossed 30 million beating out movies like Whole Ten Yards and Girl Next Door on the April 9 week. So you got your basic commentaries and you got some feauturette's. It's pretty basic and not special, but you don't need any more features to watch so it's pretty good. They could of added some more Cedric funny stuff though.

The Overall:
Johnson Family Vacation is a hilarious film and it will get you and your family laughing. This is definitely worth the pick up to rent it. It's even worth to buy this flick. I would rather rent this movie first then buy it, when it's cheap and add it to your DVD library. That's what I will be doing, it's a good enough DVD and fans should pick this one up fast. Check this out!

The Movie: This movie is easily inserted to the top 50 movies off all time for all of us. Simply, because you got Deniro, Liotta and Pesci. The laughs, the dialogue, everything about this movie are sensational. This is the best movie like ever and everyone should own this. It's a mob movie about Henry Hill and this is all based on a true story, which makes it better. There is not much more to say, we all know what it's about.

The Disc:
Disc one is of course the picture with commentaries and everything about it is great. The sound is pretty good as well for the quality, Not the best here but its an older movie so what do you expect. Otherwise it is top notch. Disc one itself has the three actors and it's great. The second disc is with features and four good featurette's and that's all you need. The disc two pic is them all hugging each other.

The Features: You got four informative features and that's all that's needed.

Overall: The movie of course is excellent and this Disc is way better then the other disc it has. If you got the other DVD version don't go out buying this one, as long as you got the movie. But for those who done have this, for sure go out and buy it because it is a MUST in your collection.

The Movie: Taking Lives is a smart and sexy thriller. It stars the Sexy Angelina Joilie and yes you see her Nude and a sex scene in this with Ethan Hawke it's definitely worth it. The movie is about an Agent who has to track down a murderer who has been taking people lives across North America and living those lives and Angelina must find who it is with the help of two agents and a victim. The movie is 105 minutes long and every part of the movie is well done and with excellent directing. It is entertaining through the whole time and it will keep you guessing. The performances are great and the movie itself is awesome.

The Disc: The disc itself is the Taking Lives logo, which is sexy, and the disc is awesome, the quality of the movie is pretty good, like all DVD's but somehow I expected better. The sound is great and when a cell phone rings in the movie, you'll like that your cell is ringing.

The Features: You got a Gag REEL, which is hilarious, and a theatrical trailer. Then you got four featurette's, which are worth the watch. Taking Lives was not a hit or a bomb it just did average so it wont get that good of treatment but what it got was good and it's a fine DVD to own.

Overall: Taking Lives is a great film and worth the rent for sure, this is going to be a great Rental. Also Taking Lives is worth the buy for sure as well. If you liked the movie then go buy it. But it's mostly worth renting it first then in about a while when it's gets cheaper on DVD you can buy it for a cheap list price. Say 19.19? Taking Lives is excellent and well worth it.

The Movie: Ok you this geeky guy who is president of the school council and he has two other geeky friends and they get no girls at all. One day Matt goes and takes out the garbage and he see the new girl next door. He is amazed, later on he looks out the window and he sees her get undressed. After that they meet up with each other and they fall in love until Matt finds out that she's a porn star. Matt then tries to get head from her, just because his friend convinced him and the girl next door hates that because she wanted to get out of the porn industry so she goes back to it. Matt then stops at nothing to convince her that she is better than that and that he loves her. So here you got a Romance pretty much of a movie and drama in it. There are funny moments but this script is not like your ordinary teen script. The movie is different and it is weird but it was highly enjoyable to watch. It keeps you watching and makes you laugh at times and seeing how the characters are in it. It's a movie that worth the eye. The juice is worth to squeeze here.

The Disc: The disc itself it a plane one, its flip sided one with features and the other with the movie. So that gets a Zero there. Now the quality and sound of the movie is excellent for a teen movie and it is great to watch on DVD.

The Features:
The audio commentaries are there; you got trailers, plenty of deleted scenes, a gag reel and two documentaries. This movie was not a success but this DVD will be and the features are pretty good here. The Deleted Scenes are basic, the gag reel is jokes and the documentaries are funny, so it is worth watching the features.

Overall:
This was a good movie, it was not what I expected because the script was so weird and different from other teen movies but it was worth the watch and highly worth the rental. I rented this one but ill buy it for sure. If you're a fan of the movie then go and buy it. If you didn't see it rent it and see what you think but this movie is a go.

The Movie: This movie is a classic. This one of the only movies this year that left me speechless. When I first watched this in theaters, some of the images in the film are very brutal. When it was done, I walked out, went home, and I stared at the wall for a few minutes thinking about what I just saw. Some people have mixed opinions on this movie, but I think Mel Gibson did an amazing job. This movie is all about Christ's last twelve hours before he was crucified. People have pointed fingers at Gibson for making it too graphic. I give him a round of applause. This movie shows the pain and sorrow Jesus went through for us. What, did you think it was going to be a Barney picture seeing this flick? Of course it was going to be harsh. The actual events of this might have even been bloodier and horrible. I like how Gibson added subtitles into this instead of them speaking english. Makes it alot more real. This definitely deserves a spot on the I,Movies Platinum reel. But this about the DVD, not the actual movie, so read on...

The Disc: Presented in 2.35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen with a choice of Dolby Digital 5.1 and dts surround soundtracks, this is a first rate transfer as usual. The picture quality is absolutely superb and extremely sharp throughout. The sound is also of a very high standard. The Hebrew dialogue is extremely clear. The DVD gives you the option of watching the movie without the subtitles, as the director intended and there is also an audio description track for visually impaired. Top notch stuff right here.

The Features: This is where the Silver Award comes into play. Its a shame any special features whatsoever weren't added. You can look at it different ways though. You could say this movie doesn't need any features since the movie alone is a stand out, and that the publicity for this kind of movie having added features would seem out of place. But I think it should have special features. Why did Gibson want to make this? What did the cast and crew go through making this picture? How did they learn the other languages? Stuff like that. It would be nice to learn more about a movie that has touched so many people.

Overall: The movie itself is a must see. But the DVD is something you should decide yourself to pick up. There will be a Special Edition released loaded with features, but an announce date hasn't been set. Rumor is it'll be around come Easter 2005 (for obvious reasons). So if you can wait that long, I suggest you hold on it this and just rent it like I did. If you're really wanting to put this into your DVD collection quickly, go for it. To you the movie is well worth the money by itself, and thats cool. Its your choice, but in the end Passion of the Christ is a true classic that everyone has to see to believe.
