The Movie: So you got Tom Hanks and Marlon Wayans in the same movie with the Cohen brothers directing. Weird. What do you get? A pretty good movie. You start of getting to know the characters in the first 25 minutes. The first part gets boring explaining to much and getting unnecessary unfunny scenes in it, in which you cant wait for the movie to finish. Then it gets good, it was surprisingly entertaining. You got Tom Hanks setting up a crew in a wood seller and digging a tunnel to a casino, while doing this all behind the old lady's back. Tom Hank's plays a solid performance once again and he is charmingly funny and his supporting cast is funny aswell. The movie is an R rated one, which it shouldn't of, have been. Their was to much swearing in it, it as pointless swearing, if they didn't swear it could have been PG-13 and the youngsters can watch it, but the director are gay. So the movie gets entertaining. I rented it by the way.

The Disc: Literally, it shows the gang talking in a diner, pretty average disc. The quality is good, the sound could be better but this is a comedy so what do you expect. Just your typical DVD quality, I could say it could be better.

The Features: You got sneak peaks, a script viewer for the ROM, a feautuette of Gospel music and some other worthless crap. And some funny outtakes. Nothing special but that's the entire disc needs, they could have added Tom Hanks as a featurette getting into his character.

Overall: It starts of boring then it gets good and it will keep you watching. Tom Hanks is magnificent in the movie and the features are good enough to make this movie a solid rental. I won't buy it unless in a year I got money and it's cheap but other than that it's a good movie to rent. Fans should buy this, and all you should check this one to see Tom Hanks at his best. It's a solid rental.

The Movie: The Punisher is one of my favorite comic book personalities. Why? Because he isn't a superhero. He can't fly, he can't read people's minds, he can't spin webs. He can't do any of that. He's a normal guy just like any of us and thats whats cool. So I was hyped for this when it was first released in theaters, and I loved it. The story is a little modified from the comic (what movie isn't?) but I don't care, the idea is still there. The movie begins with Frank Castle (Jane) on a undercover operation for the FBI. Things get sour and one of the dealers is killed. That person happens to be the son of one of Tampa's most powerful men - Howard Saint. Castle retires after that mission and heads off to a family reunion in Puerto Rico. Saint is hellbent on finding out was responsible for his son's murder, and eventually Castle is found out. He sends a hit out on him and his family, and needless to say, it wasn't pretty. They kill his entire family and also him, or so they thought. He survives and begins a mission to get revenge on Saint and anyone close to him. The thing I like about this movie is that you feel for Castle. You want him to kick some ass in any way. The acting in this is pretty good. Jane was a good choice for the role. Him and Travolta steal the show. Travolta is at his best when he's playing a villain. He's got the look. The action keeps rolling along so theres hardly any boring parts or slowdown. Some of the bad things I would say is that there should've been more scenes with his family. He reflects on them in the movie, but they're should've been more. It kinda feels like he's over it or just doesn't care.

The Disc: Punisher is one of those movies that you have to watch with your system blaring just so that you can get a better experience. Dolby Digital 5.1 is perfect. Great transfer. Picture quality is top notch and crisp. Nothing more you can ask for. The disc itself is pretty cool. It features an up-close, gritty shot of the skull logo. All in all, its a great disc.

The Features: The features are good, but I think they're could've been more. You got 4 featurettes to look at. One is a look at the stunts of the movie, another is a behind the scenes look throughout filming, a look at how The Punisher was made up in the comics, and finally a look at the current artist of the Punisher (the same guy who drew all the promo posters and the DVD cover for this flick). They're pretty good, but some of them are too short. There's also a music video from Drowning Pool called "Step Up." Its a good song, but the video has nothing to do with the movie. Not a single clip or nothing. You have 2 deleted scenes. Big whoop. They're nothing special, and even if you put director commentary on, he doesn't even tell you why they took it off. And finally you got some trailer for the game on PS2 and Xbox. Meh. This movie didn't too well in the Box Office, so I guess its understandable. But I've would've like more features.

Overall: Punisher is a great movie to add on to your collection. If you're a fan of revenge flicks then this one won't disappoint. Its got action, drama, and even a touch of comedy in some scenes. They're currently deciding if they want to pursue a sequel or not because of the B.O results, but if you buy this DVD then maybe they'll change their minds. So buy the Punisher on DVD. If not for you, then do it for I,Movies!

The Movie: So you got a guy who is enjoying his life with the women he lives, they get married and she gets pregnant but something happens. The women dies and the dad must cope with his daughter for the rest of his life. Ben Affleck plays Oliver Trinkie who is a famous publicist but screws it up by saying something that your not suppose to say. So eh ends up living with his dad in Jersey with his daughter and he works for the city. He is really missing working in New York. He spends life with his kid all the time and he meets a video store clerk and she and the kid try to show him what life really is, or Will Smith does. You'' see. The movie is not as bad as you think, people bashed this because they think it's like Gigli. It is nothing like it. When Jen is in the movie they light up the screen, then she dies then its all good. The little kid in the movie is so cute, the movie itself it cute and Affleck does a great job. The movie is romantic and funny and it deserves a 8 for the movie it self. I can watch it over and over. Kevin Smith made it different from his other movies, but its all good. This wasn't a bomb. It's well worth it.

The Disc: The disc itself is the picture of the family, which is cool, it comes with the chapter page, which new dvd's don't. Bastards. Anyways the picture is good and the audio is good. It's a romantic movie, what do you expect?

The Features: Jersey Girl made about 25 million, not so good. Expect no features. We got some though. You get text interviews which is decent. The Audio commentary is awesome. All Smith's commentaries are the best, you get Kevin Smith Featurettes. There is a bunch of them and their short, and you get another with Affleck, Smith talking about the movies they've made. It's all top notch here. They could have added a theatrical trailer, wait it's on sneak peek's. The features are great here.

Overall: This is not Gigli, it Is Jersey Girl that chicks will enjoy. Kevin Smith did a good job and the actors did too. It was sad, funny and cute. Fans will enjoy this one. Pick it up, its good to add to your collection, otherwise rent it. It is well worth the rental and a must see. I bought it and I am happy I did. Highly Recommended.

The Movie: Crese (I think that's how you spell it) it a no good washed up drunk, until he has a shot to change his life around. He becomes a bodyguard for a rich family's kid. The kid like him and annoys him but Crese is just there to protect herm not to have fun. But then he gives the girl a try and the two become close. SO he protects her. The reason he is a bodyguard is because there is many kidnappings in Mexico City. So one day the kid goes out with him and she gets kidnapped. Now Denzil is pissed. He goes for revenge and stops at nothing to kill the kidnappers. Now I wasn't into the movie when it came out, but people talked about it so I gave it a try when it comes out on DVD. So I saw it and some parts were boring and some parts were highly watchable. Denzel is superb once again, he is wicked kicking ass and Dakota is a little cute kid who can act. Marc Anthony did pretty well, but don't expect an oscar. So the movie was pretty good. It wasn't perfect but it will get a solid 8 points. Don't expect the DVD to get that.

The Disc:
Shows Denzel on it, pretty neat. The sound is good, I expected it to be better but then again its pretty much dialogue, so it's nothing special. The quality is pretty good, well duh its DVD.

The Features:
A movie that did well at the Box Office, did good overall gets shit on a stick on DVD? I was expecting good features. What I got was trailers. They were good. We get two solid commentaries. That is basic. And inside Look on a new movie with De Niro that well probably bomb like all his recent movies, which is useless. This DVD is on Man On Fire, not HIDE AND SEEK. That's all we got. The movie was long to they couldn't put a lot, but they could have at least added more. Fucking 20th Century Fox, Go fuck yourselves.

Overall:
Overall the movie was good, and it is highly recommended to rent this movie. To buy this movie on the other hand is up to you. If you love the movie, then buy it. Fuck the features. But if your gay and like features then don't get this. This is a sad excuse for a dvd. A movie that did well gets shit. Just rent this one people. It's good to rent, buy it if you like or else you're warned.

-Released September 21st, 2004
-Lindsay Lohan, Tina Fey

-DVD SCORE: 8/10 - Gold Award
-Movie Score: 9/10
The Movie: The film stars Lindsay Lohan as Cady, a teenager who has been homeschooled in Africa all her life, while her parents were researching in Africa. Although she's initially confused by the politics of high school, she gains two friends in by Janice and Damian. When Cady is accepted by the plastics, a trio of popular girls lead by Regina George her friends decide that it'll allow them to infiltrate the popular group, gain information and potentially take Regina and her friends, Gretchen and Karen down from the inside. So you got that basic plot, which is your teen movie of the 00 decade. The movie itself is good, I enjoyed watching it and it's even better owning it and watching it over and over. I saw it at the movies and I thought It was ok, so I bought it because I had the money and I watched it again and thought It was great. The performances and one-liners are great. This is a memorable one and it is a joker of a movie.

The Disc: Literally, it's the mean girls, which are not bad, your standard Paramount disc and the audio is excellent. The picture is great and the colors show out good. It's a good movie to pop in your 25 inch and enjoy this good film. Props to the DVD!

The Features: The audio commentary you got here. I heard like 5 minutes of it and it sounded boring, but at least it has a commentary. Then you got yet again deleted scenes that are pretty funny. Then you have three watchable featurette's and a blooper reel, which is always nice. I was sorta disappointed though because they could have added a lot of more supplements. The movie did great and it is great so they should treat us with more. It's not bad but there is so much more they can put on this DVD that would make it a Platinum DVD.

Overall:
Mean Girls is a movie we must all watch, it's worth the rent but it's more worth the buy. Teen comedy lovers will love this one and most people will like this. Mostly girls will enjoy this and guys will like this to see Lacey Chabert. The disc is great, the supplements are fine but there could be more.  It's worth the buy, regardless, watch the movie as fast as you can, or buy it!

Man On Fire

Envy
-Released September 28th, 2004
-Ben Stiller, Jack Black
-Written by Jay - 09/28/04
-DVD SCORE: 2/10 - P.O.S Award
-Movie Score: 3/10
The Movie: Two best friends who live across the street from each other live life the same day everyday. One day Nick (Black) invents something that evaporates dog shit and Tim (Stiller) thinks it's a bad idea. But then Nick gets rich and Tim stays with his stuck up job and Tim becomes mighty jealous of Nick and all these antics happen. The movie bombed big time at the theatres and I think it deserved it. This movie was shit. It's about shit and the movie is shit. I was expecting it to be funny because Stiller and Black, I picked this instead of Super Size Me and that was so boring and not funny. It was not memorable and I pretty much forgot about this dump. There faces are not even on the front cover of the DVD since there embarrassed about being in this one. Folks, it's not funny, it's boring.

The Disc: Is white and it says Envy on it. Looks like crap. The quality is normal and the sound is as well. Nothing to blab about.

The Features: We got production notes that are useless, photos, cast bios. Those are so unnecessary and we got the best of Jack Black, which is ok. The movie bombed so it doesn't need features.

Overall: Envy is not a good movie. This is Ben and Jack's worst movie. This DVD is not worth to buy for more than 6.99. It's not worth a rental. I wasted 5.75 on this. The feature stuff is acceptable but if you wanted to just see the movie, you wont see one. It's not all that bad. I'll give it a 3 because it has liked some 1-second laughs. Only two of those and the ending got better. So it doesn't deserve a 0. It is a Piece of Shit movie, but it's gets the three. Wait till this one hits The Superstation.

Walking Tall
-Released September 28th, 2004
-The Rock, Johnny Knoxville
-Written by Kev - 09/30/04
-DVD SCORE: 5/10 - Silver Award
-Movie Score: 6/10
The Movie: Walking Tall is The Rock's second stand alone title. The Rundown was his first since The Scorpion King was based off The Mummy franchise. So that movie's success can be related to the fanbase of The Mummy movies. Rundown did pretty good and it helped elevate Rock higher up the Hollywood ladder as an action star. You'd think there would be good things for Rocky. Then came Walking Tall. I'm not its a bad movie (it could've been better), but for Rock to go from a great movie in The Rundown to this, is a step backward in his career. I'll get to why in a bit. First, the story. Its a simple plot. Chris Vaughn (Rock) returns home after serving in the military. He thinks hes going back to paradise but soon he find out that things aren't exactly the same anymore. Right from the get-ho, you see a woman buying drugs in an alleyway while leaving her baby unattended to in her stroller. Not a real good impression for Chris on his first day in town. He meets up with his family and friends and gets back to the swing of things. Eventually he's invited to a Casino owned by Jay Hamilton (McDonough), the richest guy in the town. While there, Chris spots a fixed dealer at a table and demands his money back. Next thing you know, a riot breaks out and Chris is on the recieving end of a beating and hes left for dead. From there, Chris is hell-bent on setting his town straight by becoming Sheriff. The thing I like about Walking Tall is that it gives me an old school feeling. It isn't effects heavy and doesn't even have an CG in its scenes. Its a straight up action flick. First Punisher and now this. Good stuff. The biggest thing that peeves me about the movie, is the length. This movie is too short. It feels like the movie just passes by a minute after you sit your ass down to watch it. That put down the experience of this movie. Once things started to pick up, it was over. Making you want more. Character development was crap here. With Chris coming back to his home, you'd expect to find out more about the people from his past. But no. The only character you get to know  is Chris himself. But just barely. Acting is pretty good here, nothing to gloat about. Rock is definitely getting better. He's gonna be big. Knoxville is a joker as usual. Now onto the DVD specs...

The Disc: The disc is white with a kind of rust colred bar behind a pic of the Rock with the signature 2x4 in hand. Simple, but nice. The color is sharp at times, but its kinda of blurry as well. I have a 53' HDTV and it doesn't look that great on it. You'd expect that since the movie is so short, MGM would have more room on the disc to improve the picture. Guess not. Sound is good, for whats it worth.

The Features: Walking Tall has a few features but they're mediocre at best. You have a Blooper Reel, which is always good. Except there are only about 4 here. Lame. There are 3 deleted scenes for God knows why. The movie is short enough so I don't see why they took them out. Usually a scene is edited out because it drags on or isn't needed for the story progression. But they weren't useless, at least to me. They should've been in the movie. You have a featuree called "Fight the Good Fight" which is about the fight scenes and stunts in the movie. Its ok, but like the movie, its short. You also got the theatrical trailer, and a few trailers for other MGM flicks. There's also a sneak peek at Species 3 (uneccessary sequel folks!). And of course you got your usual commentaries. One with the director and crew, and the other with Rock. Rock's is actually entertaining.

Overall: Walking Tall is nothing more than a straight forward action flick. You should really only get this if you're a Rock fan or want a dosage of action. I bought this because, yeah, I'm a Rock fan and I have every movie he's made so far. And I want to keep my collection complete. If Rock wasn't in this, I wouldn't have got it. So there you go. This is a rental at best for you other peeps. Or it'll be a nice movie for your old man who misses the days of old-school action movies. Walking Tall semi-delivers on that.
