D/s, or Dominance and submission, in no way challenges or threatens those values and freedoms. Indeed no real D/s relationship is based solely on the infliction of pain. For those new to the lifestyle, or simply those who have stumbled across this website, it is important to note that the ideal D/s relationship is no different to the ideal 'vanilla' relationship. And that is a loving and harmonious relationship, smiled apon by family, friends, and community.
Though not all the secrets may be known to all around them, the participants are involved voluntarily. They choose the lifestyle. Without duress. If they don't choose, then it isn't D/s. Period.
The words 'Safe, Sane, and Consensual', are the words used by adherents to describe D/s in its most basic form. Anything outside these guidelines is not D/s.
