Creepy  Witches'  Fingers

Here's what you'll need:

1 cup butter, softened 1 cup icing sugar 1 egg 1 tsp. almond extract 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 2/3 cups flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 3/4 cup whole almonds 1 tube red decorating gel (optional)

Gross everyone out with these creepy cookies!  In a bowl, beat together butter, sugar, egg, almond extract and vanilla extract.  Beat in flour, baking soda, and salt.  Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes.  Working with one quarter of the dough at a time, and keeping the rest refrigerated, roll heaping teaspoonfulls of dough into finger shapes for each cookie.  Press one almond firmly into one end for the nail.  Mold the dough to make knuckles.  Using a paring knife,  make several slashings to create a  wrinkled skin affect for the knuckles.  Place on lightly greased baking sheets and bake in 325 degree oven for 20-25 minutes or untill pale golden.  Let cool for 3 minutes.  This part is optional.  Lift up almond, squeeze red decorating gel onto nail bed and press almond back into place.  This gives it the efect that it is oozing blood from underneaththe nail.  You can also make slashes in the finger and fill them with red decorating gel.  In the picture above, the gel was not put on.  Instead, you could go over the nail, using a paintbrush, and paint the nail with green or black food coloring.
