(Designers note: Based on a single vague reference in TR2750. Actually a
whole lot less than it could have been. The design is underweight by about
seven thousand tons, but I think the end result fits the undergunned
surveilance corvette description nicely, and it compares well with its
contemporaries)

Overview

One of the smallest dedicated combat warships ever deployed by the Terran
Hegemony, the Bonadventure was a dedicated sensor platform. It played a vital
role as a picket ship and surveilance vessel in dangerous parts of the inner
sphere and near periphery, and also opperated alongside Vigilant class
corvettes in front line naval groups.

The little ship, however, was poorly armed when compared to other corvettes,
or even many pirate vessels, and had a very poor chance for survival when
caught alone. This is one of the reasons that it was eventually retired in
favor of the Vincent class corvette in 2432. Many bonadventures ended up in
the hands of the great houses and periphery states (the taurians used the
design as the basis for their successful Defiant class corvette), while
others were scrapped. However there were aproximately one hundred
bonadventures still in mothballs at hegemony storage facilities by the time
of the fall of the star league. Though most of these ships were ultimately
seized by one house or another for use during the succession wars, as many as
two dozen are still unacounted for. Though these ships might have been lost
in the chaos of the Amaris Coup or the Succession wars, nobody knows for
certain. This makes the Bonadventure and other pre-Star League era warships a
tantalizing prospect for lostech hunters, prompting legends of hidden fleets
of warships just waiting to be found. Any such cache fleet would be the find
of a lifetime, and if it were large enough, would radically alter the balance
of power in the inner sphere more dramatically than every cache of star
league battlemechs combined.
