Adaracks come from a feudal society where great importance is placed on lineage. When son succeeds father, they are expected to maintain or surpass the status quo, never EVER falling back.  Only the families with the highest renown rule, going down the ladder, all the way to the peasant and even the slaves. Even in the slave class, some are better then others, and occasionally a slave family make it to that level where they will be slaves no longer.
As with all young nobles, in order to prove worthy of their family name and make decisions which would raise said family's standings, the young are sent out into the world to broaden their horizons.  A rare few take to the life of a wanderer, but most return home with much knowledge gained.  The favored mount of the Adaracks are called Xamutts, or "war dogs" in the crude human tongue.  The two are inseparable, and it is considered a bad omen if the xamutt is in ill health or not properly taken care of.  The wealthier families have stables full of purebred xamutts, and even the lowliest slave family has at least one.
They are a very superstitious people, and wear many talismans to bring good fortune, such as cloaks made from past xamutts and oddly colored feathers, to eyebrow and nose rings, even going as far as branding glyphs on the top of their heads.
Adaracks are an honorable, yet uptight race, who can be easily offended by someone ignorant of their customs.  This leads to many a duel which, with the Adarack's superior speed can leave an opponent utterly humiliated, as this is the preferred form of vengeance, rather then killing.  They have a limited trade arrangement with humans, although only the lower class deals with them in person, the nobles not wanting to sully themselves with the uncouth savages.
The most common type of dog soldier resembles that of a schnauzers or foxes, with a fair sprinkling of rat terrier throughout.  On rare occasions, they will resemble pointers.  Despite what type of dog they are, race does not determine class, only family name.  Those who do not meet the standards are replaced with another family.  The family itself is not a family per say, but a small community made up of roughly 2-300 individuals, in essence a small town.  They are ruled by a Shomaster who acts as the decision maker and does all business concerning his family. The Shomaster's consort is usually a priestess of the Temple of L'leppahc N'ora, and acts as spiritual head and advisor.  All who have proved themselves are equal in Adarack society, save for slaves and those who have yet to proven their worth to the family.
The patron deity is called L'leppahc N'ora, the hunting god. Legends say that in the time before time, he was all that existed in heaven, the world covered by monsters and demons, his fellow gods trapped in Limbo.  L'leppahc N'ora tamed a great fanged beast called Xam which served as his mount.  Together they slaughtered the beasts and demons, but were themselves wounded, Xam's body parts scattered across the globe.  The freed gods took L'leppahc N'ora's essence and merged it with the dying Xam, and from the mingling came the first Adaracks.
