Over the last eight years or so, I have spent a lot of time searching for ghosts. Now to some people, this obviously sounds strange... but my search was not to prove to the reader that ghosts exist, but to myself. Have I managed to do this? Well, let's just say that I am past the doubting stage at this point.... especially after visiting some of the spots that I have featured in this book! My newest book, "Haunted Illinois", is the first book to ever compile stories of ghosts and hauntings from all over the state of Illinois.... from the southern portion of the state to Chicago. I discovered in my travels to document these hauntings that Illinois has a very wide range of ghosts.... from the slightly odd to the downright scary. I think of the book as a journey through the haunted history of the state because you won't find just ghost stories here. What you will find is a collection of strange tales and some pieces of little known history that you never even knew existed. In the end, I guess that you would say that my search for ghosts was for not only the supernatural kind... but for the ghosts of the past too. My goal was to open up a new experience for the reader, whether they are from Illinois or not, and allow them to encounter the ghosts and haunted places first-hand.... Here are just some of the more than 80 ghosts and haunted places in the book: The Old Slave House - The Devil's Bake Oven - Fort de Chartres - Pemberton Hall - The Mad Gasser of Mattoon - Voorhies Castle - Haunted Decatur - Greenwood Cemetery - Ghosts of Springfield - Hauntings of Abraham Lincoln - The Lake Club - Haunted Alton - Lewis and Clark College - Alton Confederate Prison - Knox College - Woodstock Opera House - The Watseka Wonder - Macomb Poltergeist - Haunted Chicago - Bachelor's Grove Cemetery - Hull House - Resurrection Mary.. and many more! I really hope that you enjoy the book... just make sure that you keep a light on and remember to check over your shoulder while you're reading it!
