| News The news confirms what is happening presently to push the stock in a certain direction. The way this is scored is easy. However, unlike the previous two scoring methods, the News portion of the D.A.R.N process is subjective. In other words, you must determine the score. Simply look at the news articles. If the news is good it's a 1 and if the news is bad it's a 5. Here is an example of news on a stock. To determine the score simply look at the headlines or the articles or read through their entirety. Again right click on the stock and click on news You should be able to quickly determine whether the news is good or bad by reading the headlines. You want only the best coming from the company and the news can have dramatic effect on your stocks. Remember, if the recent articles are good, score the stock a 1. If the articles are bad on the stock, then score it a 5. Now you can combine the information from the Analysts who are predicting the stock's performance in the future, with past information through reports, and confirm it with present information or news. Add all three scores together, divide by 3 and you have your D.A.R.N score for your stock. In our previous stock example it scored a (1.8 + 1.0 + 1.0 = 3.8/3) = 1.2. According to the experts you want a stock with a 1.5 or lower. This one fits the criteria therefore can considered a D.A.R.N. good stock. You would then keep it in your portfolio. You will want to follow this process with each of the stocks you added to your portfolio. This will allow you to affectively see whether your "tips" are fundamentally sound or not. Delete those stocks that don't fit the D.A.R.N. criteria. This gives you a strong foundation of fundamentals which will strengthen your portfolio and potential positions and also help screen out the companies that are weak fundamentally. In other words you are finding the best of the best! There are tools within the Mentor Center that makes this process easier. There are ways of searching for stocks using D.A.R.N. criteria. With Investrio you will learn how to utilize these searches to quickly and successfully build a D.A.R.N good portfolio. It is important to remember that the D.A.R.N. process only told you if your stock was strong. It answered the question: what stock do I buy. However, you haven't answered the questions: when do I buy or sell! This is addressed later in "Technical Analysis". Finding Stocks Using The Mentor Center's Unique Features Remember the three questions that most investors have are what stock do I buy, when do it I buy and when do I sell.
