Mater Dei Council is one of more than 10,000 councils of the Knights of Columbus, a worldwide Catholic fraternal men's organization founded by Father Michael J. McGivney.
Mater Dei Council was chartered in 1988 at St. Raphaels Church in Rockville, MD and currently has over 250 members who participate in a wide variety of charitable activities. The council prides itself on the activities that it participates in including the Garage-to-Attic sale, the Columbus Day Car Raffle, Tootsie Roll Drive to assist the mentally handicapped, Breakfast with Santa, among others.
Mater Dei Council publishes "The Blue Mantle" monthly newsletter. Council meetings are held at St. Raphael's Catholic Community on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month at 8:00 PM.
