Frequently asked questions
Q: Why does the display seem not to line up at times, especially viewing pictures and text together?

A: It's possible that you have the text set to another size than normal in your browser.
In Netscape, click on the
View pull down at the top, select Text Zoom then select 100%.
In MSIE, click on the
View pull down at the top, select Text Size then select Medium.

Q: Why doesn't the "View Page Stats" link work?

A: If this link doesn't take you to the statistics for that page, you're probably operating behind a
firewall. For some reason this function of Yahoo-Geocities doesn't like firewalls! If your computer is for home use, you may want to temporarily disable the firewall to use this function (making sure of course you turn it back on after.) If you work for a corporation however, they will take a very dim view of you trying to turn off their firewall (if indeed you can!) I you have any doubts, don't do it. The "View Page Stats" is only a bit of fun anyway.

Q: Why do pictures load at full size in Netscape browsers then get smaller when the picture is fully downloaded (viewing at 800x600)?

A: Because, by default, some later versions of the Netscape browser try to show you the whole picture, the image is resized. This can however make it look compressed and a bit "pixelated". If you simply click the left mouse button while holding the mouse cursor over the picture, you can see it the size it was intended.

The same thing happens using Microsoft Internet Explorer, but the picture doesn't get shown at the intended size first.

You can alter the default in MSIE, by selecting
Tools, select Internet Options, click on the Advanced tab. Scroll down to Multimedia, then make sure the Enable Automatic Image Resizing checkbox is not ticked.

Q: Why do nagging adverts keep on popping up on the right-hand side of the browser?

A: This is because the site doesn't cost me anything! I could pay for an ad-free site, but I don't consider this necessary, because the site isn't designed for commercial use!

The ads can easily be told to go by first clicking on the minimize button, then their close button if they're still annoying you. A bit of hassle, but what gives?!

If you
do have the choice, use Netscape Navigator. The ads aren't so intrusive then as they're pushed to the bottom!

Q: Why do I sometimes get a screen saying that the site has "exceeded it's quota..."?

A: Well; the answer to this is pretty much the same as that of above question. I'm limited in the amount of information that can be downloaded each month. This is metered by the hour, and if it's exceeded, there will be a temporary block on any more activity.

If you wait an hour or so, you can normally resume browsing the site (yes; I know, by which time you'll have forgotten all about my site :-( ) I'm
really sorry about this one, as it I appreciate it can be so annoying.

Due to the nature of its construction, some parts of the site may however still work, although probably not the home page or its immediate "subordinates".

If I get rich one day, I'll pay for you to see everything - any time you want!!!
