"People Are Starting"
a letter from Fr. Erick Santos

Dear fellow-Torresians, Batch '78:

Peace and every blessing!

Reynaldo Bisda forewarded to me your e-mail addresses inasmuch as a small group of batchmates here in Manila are planning to lay the initial preparations for the the Silver Jubilee Homecoming of our batch in the year 2003.  It would really take that long to track down people and to come out with a definitive directory.  Once we're able to locate people, everything else will come in place (date, venue and other provisions).

I'm presently assigned as parish priest of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Tayuman, Tondo and president of the Manila Cathedral College. Prior to this post, I was in San Rafael Parish/Parochial School in Balut, Tondo.  Growing up in Manuguit, studying high school in Gagalangin, working in Balut and Tayuman . . . hmmm, God must be enjoying to see me stay and work in this heaven on earth.

I would be writing to you once in a while to update you on the ongoings here re: THS Batch '78 Activities (foremost of which are the pre-homecoming this year; statistics on the batchmates located and the homecoming in 2003.)

It might interest you to hear about some of them whom I have already contact with.  ROSANTO MISA, IV-E1, is living in BF Homes Parañaque and visits his mother quite often in Balut.  He aired his intention to join the
adhoc committee on the reunion. He and his wife are actively serving a fellowship group and had a grand Christian wedding at Club Intramuros several years ago.  LEA ESPINO-Ponio, IV-SS Cancer, heads an insurance firm
in Makati and lives in BF Homes Parañaque with her contractor-husband.  I used to give some Human Resource Dev. sessions to her personnel.  I wonder if she has already given birth to her third child. MARILOU CRUZ-Santos,
IV-SS Cancer, works with her.

ELEANOR DIRECTO-Fabie, IV-SS Cancer, is also with an insurance firm and comes to my parish office twice a week as she is our finance officer. EVELYN BAUTISTA, IV-SS Libra or Virgo(?) whose "new" surname I forgot, is
at the administrative office of ICAM. EDMUNDO LIAO, IV-SS Cancer, is responsible for the computers in Rizal Commercial Banking Corp.  CRISELDA IMPERIO-Martinez, IV-SS Libra, is married to Atty. Crisanto Martinez of
Batch '79 and is working with PLDT. It was I who officiated in the weddings of both Edmon and Criselda.

OFELIA CELESTINO, IV-SS Cancer, is on a study grant at the US; VICTOR EDROSOLAN, IV-Sc.1, is stationed in New York.  EDNA ADRIANO-Galera is a contented housewife (I blessed her beautiful house in Kaunlaran Village). I really don't know where RONALDO NIEVA, IV-SS Cancer, is presently living and working but I'm sure he is still very much active in the Couples for Christ.  FERDINAND LOMIBAO, IV-SS Virgo, is an engineer and works with GMA-7.  He once mounted the stage in my school to accompany his son receive his medal during recognition day.  JAIME TAN, IV-M1 and wife MA. LINDA PADUA, IV-E(?), have their own flourishing business and attend the parents'meeting in my former school in Balut.  Their son, Atlantis, is one of my scholars.

JOSEPH GELITO, IV-E1, is the entertainment manager of a luxury ship cruising the Asian circuit.  REY MEDENILLA, IV-SS Cancer, is with the Pamantasan ng Makati.

LYDIA MAGAT-Golveo, IV-SS Libra, is with the Phil. Daily Inquirer. MERCEDES CONJEOS, IV-SS Cancer, now a doña, runs her tire supply business near my church.  DR. CONSOLACION CABILDO-Albornoz, IV-SS Cancer, is
obviously a . . . doctor.

Please let me know if you know of the whereabouts of any member of our batch.  It's no longer important as to what section one once belonged.  We are THS Batch '78.  Period. Have you noticed that the music they have been
playing on the airwaves lately are actually our music during our heydays? They just keep coming back!

In case you need my help, I'm into the following : pastoral and educational management; spiritual retreats; organizing pilgrimages to the Holy Land and Europe; corporate seminars on Human Resource Development and
charismatic renewal among others.

Keep in touch and always remember, "The real measure of love is to love without measure."  Sending my warmest regards to your loved ones I remain.

Your friend,

Fr. Erick Y. Santos
