No Child Left Behind - NCLB
NCLB is a legislation passed in 2001 by the George W. Bush
Administration that affects K-12 education.  It is an amendment to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).  The intention is to provide stronger accountability, more local freedom, proven methods, and choices for parents.

Stronger Accountability addresses accountability for schools, Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), getting results, achievement gap, state improvement lists, and standards.

More local freedom addresses local control and flexibility, creating safer schools, faith based and community efforts.

Proven methods address doing what works: reading, math achievement, science achievement, English fluency, and good teachers.

Choices for parents address getting students help, school choice, and supporting charter schools.
