Technology Management. As you might imagine, using the Internet in the classroom brings with it the need to deal with a range of technology management issues. These include addressing the problems associated with implement Internet-based projects in "technology-poor environments", being prepare to deal with connectivity outages, keeping students safe while they use the technology, as well as other related issues. By utilizing certain technology management strategies it is possible to effectively deal with these problems so that they do not interfere with the learning process. This area of project management is often the most challenging as well as the most important when dealing with Internet-based projects. Limited Access Solution Room PT03 only has 1 functional computer. To deal with this problem, classes will be held at the Media Center. There, we have approximately 10 computers with internet access. Students will have to work in cooperative groups of 3. Arrangements will have to be made with the media specialist. Backup Plans In the case that the media center is not available for the necessary consecutives, teacher will have to make arrangements with for access to math computer lab where there are 15 fully functional computers with internet access. Internet Safety Over the last few years the media has seemed to focus on the potential dangers of the Internet rather than the potential it holds as an educational tool that can enhance classroom learning. Because of this skewed reporting many parents, administrators, teachers, and community leaders are overly concerned about bringing the Internet into their schools. It is therefore very important that any educator who uses the technology also have an in-depth understanding of the potential dangers that the Internet poses and what can be done to protect students from these dangers. Armed with this information, teachers can both protect their students as well as educate the public to the benefits of the technology.
