TIME MANAGEMENT Suggested Project Implementation Timeline This Implementation Timeline is being suggested with the assumption that a block is 1h:40min long. In addition, we are also assuming that: 1. all prerequisite activities, including project presentation, web site familiarization and internet safety, have been executed. 2. all the groups have already been formed and the language arts, the socoial studies and the math experts have been selected in each group. The project instructions are divided into eight (8) sections and the Implementation Timeline will be proposed accordingly. The sections are: SECTION (I) Selecting the destination point SECTION (II) Gathering information. SECTION (III) Analyzing current events SECTION (IV): Finding all traveling information. SECTION (V): Calculating distances, rate and time. SECTION (VI): Finding Currency Exchange Rates & projections. SECTION (VII): Estimating in country expenses. SECTION (VIII): Computing Week#1 & 2 Day 1 (Time proposed: 60 minutes) Section 1 - Complete activities #1-5. Section 2 - Complete activities # 6 - 17. Day 2 (Time proposed: 30 minutes) Section 3 - Complete activities # 18- 21. Day 3 (Time proposed: 75 minutes) Section 4 - Complete activities # 22 -25 Section 5 - Complete activities # 26 - 44 Day 4 (Time proposed: 60 minutes) Section 6 - Complete activities # 45- 54 Day 5 (Time proposed: 60 minutes) Section 7 - Complete activities # 55 - 82 Week#3 Day 6 (Time proposed: 45 minutes) Section 8 - Complete activities # 83. DUE DATES: Day 3: Summary on "Destination Profile". To be submitted to the language Arts teacher for evaluation. Day 5: 1- Summary on "Current Events". To be submitted to the Language Arts teacher for evaluation. 2- "Time zone Computations" to be submitted to the Social Studies Teacher for evaluations. End of week # 3: Data Sheet. To be submitted to the Math Teacher for evaluations. End of week 5: Final Report. To be submitted to all 3 teachers for final evaluations. Week # 6: Five (5) minutes of Oral Presentation (optional). To be done in all 3 classes. Teacher Preparations Week 1 & 2: Materials The students will need to bring: Paper/pencil, ruler, calculator Preparations Day 1: The teacher will need to make the necessary arrangements for internet access (1 computer for each group of 3 students). In addition, the teacher needs to get copies of the Student handouts (Experiment instructions and Data sheet). In addition, teacher will have to find the nearest health center (for the cost of vaccinations), find a person contact and make sure that the person will be available and ready to answer the students questions. In addition, the students will need the use of scissors and glue. Day 4: Students will need graph papers on day 4 asides from all above materials. Day 5: On day 5, students will be required to send e-mails to the Tourist Bureau of their chosen point of destination. Teacher must contact those bureaus beforehand so that, again, a person contact could be established and the students will have the assurance of a response quickly. Week 3: In addition of all the aforementioned materials, students will need copies of the Student Final Report Instructions. In addition, teachers will need to make the necessary adjustment in their Lesson Plans for the oral presentations. Arrangements must be made between the 3 teachers: Language Arts, Social Studies and Math. |
