There's no need to panic when, despite your best efforts, you just don't "get it." Usually all you need is time and practice.  And sometimes you don't need either! Often something you didn't understand when you first saw it will percolate up from your subconscious, maybe a summer or even a year later. Math is very much about exposure to, and maturity within, the medium. But here are some web sites which may offer help right when you need it.  They were selected because of the quality of their lessons, interactive and animated tutorials, on-line quizzes and ease of use.   Enjoy!

Math Goodies is a great pre-Algebra site with lessons followed by on-line quizzes to test mastery of the essentials. Offers free sample lessons in everything from percentages to probability but you have to buy the CD-ROM for all 70 lessons.   Well organized, easy to use.

Math.com has a unique format. Each topic is taught  in 4 steps: First Glance, In-Depth, Examples and Workout.  You'll really know whether you've mastered a concept and are ready for the next. This site also offers in-depth information on pre-Algebra requirements, including fractions.  Go on with confidence to lessons in Algebra, Geometry and beyond.

Purplemath.com is a comprehensive database of extremely well-organized lessons, tutorials and quizzes which allow you to go  into as little or as much depth as you wish on a topic.   Recommended for middle school, high school and college-level mathematics.

GoMath.com is valuable as it links to SAT prep as well as offers on-line help for Algebra, Geometry, Physics and Chemistry. An excellent resource with "formulas-to-go," interactive
lessons and links to fabulous math-related web sites.
