There are 3 reasons why I am way more than your average math tutor...

1. Credential
I have a California State Teaching Credential specifically for teaching mathematics.  This means that I have taken courses that taught me how to teach.  I also have full-time, public high school teaching experience (in
Stockton, California) and have a family full of public school teachers.  This means that I understand mathematics from your child's teacher's perspective.  Most tutors don't have any credential, let alone one that is math-specific, and have never even taught in a classroom!  For more information, visit my credentials page.

2. Bachelor's In Mathematics
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, and I graduated Summa Cum Laude (i.e. with a 3.9 GPA).  I adore math!  It is vital that a math tutor has a strong background in mathematics.  One teacher I know of was
completely sure that a negative number multiplied by another negative number is an even more negative number, and she taught her whole class that it was true!  She had no background in mathematics.  She now teaches at a public high school -- can you believe that?  If there's one thing I know, it's math, and I'll never lead a student astray.
EXCITING NEWS: A true teacher never stops learning!  I will be pursuing my Master's Degree in Mathematics starting in Fall 2007!

3. Experience
I have experience since 2000 in teaching AND tutoring.  After so much time spent tutoring, I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve.  I know how to instill confidence and how to make sure a student is receptive to my teaching.  And as my students could tell you, I never make a student feel bad about themselves.  My motto with respect to learning and mathematics is: "confidence + knowlege = excellence."  I have learned so much that new tutors simply don't understand; trust me, my experience is worth your while!
