I'm Matilda, at least that is my internet identity. That thing sitting on my lap that looks like a dog is my daughter Betty. She was the best dog in the whole world. She died in the summer of 2000. I now have a new best friend "Abby" who you can see on the pets page.If you have made it this far in my web site you should be greatly congratulated. I started this thing I guess in about 1998in my newly acquired spare time. I wasn't at all sure how to do this and some times, you know those times when you fight with you computer, I still don't think I have a clue. Anyway.............
I am a Special Education teacher by profession, a career I thoroughly enjoyed. I worked in a regular classroom for about 1/2 a year and hated it. Then I found my nitch in Special Ed. I have worked with the special population from 3 years to 60 years of age and have had lots of laughs and lots of tears over it. My boss gave me a sign once that said "I've been kicked, pinched, pushed, and knocked down. The only reason I hang around is to see what happens next." (Something like that) I have to say my job also included peed on, pooped on, spit on, bit, broken, smacked, wrestled with, hair pulled out, OR called a bunch of names. BUT that is the joy of special education when you are dealing with a population of mostly adults who happen to be retarded and have severe behavioral disorders.
