No Reservations

I will not love a fellow

Who has to win my heart.

The fact he's trying so damn hard

Means failure from the start.

I start off as a challenge,

More distant than the rest.

But once he thinks he has me

He'll move on and divest.

Aside: I'm suddenly a "pest."

I will not love a fellow

Who overlooks my flaws,

Or doesn't even share my dreams --

This makes a woman pause.

He sees me as a target,

A trophy or a prize.

But once men have their trophies,

The romance always dies.

I cannot love a fellow

Who doesn't share my plan.

Until I meet a man I like,

I'll live without a man.

They always swear they love you.

They think they'll always care.

But once they find out who you are,

They're off for an affair.

I'd rather find a fellow

Who sees himself in me.

And since we are so much alike,

I'll probably agree.

He will not have to chase me,

Nor will I have to run.

We'll start our life as man and wife,

And keep on having fun.
