Nael Elhalyn y Krysil

• Laran gift and laran training: Mutated Elhalyn and Aillard gifts, with inadvertent Catalyst Telepathy. Nael has the ability to read an objects History via touch or Psychometry. This is a form of the Elhalyn ability, which rarely develops except in those of recent Chierie decent. Nael also has the ability to De-resonate the Telepathic centers of emerging Telepaths a technique, learned during his tenure at Tramontanna, lessening the extremes of Threshold sickness. In extreme situations Nael has successfully “powered off” the laran centers in fully Operant telepaths effectively creating a telepathic dampener effect (1 time only). Formal training in the Matrix sciences started at Neskaya and Later Tramontana Towers where he qualified as a Technician.
• Politics: None, Nael prefers to Study and Teach anyone who is interested in Darkovers History, specifically the Ages of Chaos and Pre Cataclysm Darkover.
• Personality: Rather single-minded and intensely passionate about rediscovering many of the Lost Matrix sciences, While at the same time preventing many of the Past misuses of Laran and Psi powers.
• Strengths: Nael seems to Know more than he ever lets anyone know, sometimes using his knowledge to circumvent situations he finds un avoidable.
• Weaknesses: His Love of History and His all consuming passion for what has been lost.
• Combat training: Moderately skilled in the Use of the Curved blade of the Dry-towners. Nael also is skilled in a dancing form of unarmed combat he learned during a period of wondering in the Hellers.
• Horseback riding: Although competent as a Horseback rider Nael prefers to “Use the Feet the gods made him with”
• Appearance: Rather tall near 6 feet tall. Shoulder Length Dark Red hair (Almost Auburn) with Hazel eyes. (It has been noted that when handling an Item and reading its past his eyes turn a Light almost whitish gray)

• Friends: Annelys Cassilda Ridenow y Aillard, Merelda Aillard, Roybard Dyan Alton
• Pets: Shimal, an imported Terran feline (Orange tabby cat) that enjoys hunting near the strange lakeshore and systematically destroying all Naels silk garments with her claws.
• Hobbies: Languages (Human and Non Human-Trailman and Catman) and training of all Laran gifted individuals
• Other Information: Oddities: Nael has been seen having conversations with Individuals unseen to others. Many have heard him having arguments with personages such as Varzil Ridenow (Varzil the Good) and others. When asked about this Nael is rather evasive saying that he merely tries to step into another’s shoes and see it from their point of view. It has been noted that in the Over world Nael is sometimes seen with shadowy blue figures standing near him and whispering in his ear at these times and what appears to be a Large matrix ring on Naels hand. Many believe that Nael is slowly going insane, like many Elhalyns have in the past.
  
  Although his Father is of a Branch of the Elhalyn, Nael’s Mother is an entirely different manner. Naels Father claims she was possibly Half Chierie. The tale goes that while lost and wounded after a bandit raid, Rhys Elhalyn was taken in during a severe winter storm in the Far Hellers by a woman who nursed him and healed his wounds without the use of a matrix. In a glade with Near temperate warmth he stayed for 5 days and nights with his rescuer Krysill but during a freak winter blooming of Kirseth flowers brought Rhys and Krysill together, Rhys found himself just outside of Lake Hali, alone and Heartsick with loss. After 5 years to the Day Krysill arrived with Nael and presented him as his son asking Rhys to take him and protect him, She then Kissed them both and walked off into a fierce winter storm never to be seen again.
