She drove her rental car toward the airport and boarded a plane for Atlanta.  She was going to her house to get her things, and move them up to Boston.
After she disembarked from the plane, she hopped in her car, and drove toward her apartment, that she shared with Pete and Cayli.
The first room she started in was their bedroom.  She emptied her whole closet, along with shoes and everything.  She started on the drawers next, emptying them of all her underwear, socks, and clothing items that were in the drawers.
Her next stop was Cayli's room.  She packed up all of Cayli's toys, clothes, and things of that nature.
While she packed, she was on the phone with her mother.
"Mum, tell Cayli that we are staying in Boston.  I am leaving Pete.  I was tired of his controlling." Maire said.
"I don't blame you, lovey.  Cayli says to remember her toys and everything.  Did you consult a lawyer?" her mom asked.
"Yes.  I consulted one last week.  We filed the papers this week.  Soon, it will all be nothing but an unpleasant memory." Maire said.
"But how are we to explain this to Cayli?" her mom asked.
"How did you explain it to us when Dad left you and moved back to Ireland?" Maire asked.
"I just point blank told you." she replied.
"Mom, we'll figure out something.  I have to go.  Still packing.  I should be on my way to Boston soon." Maire said as she hung up.
She then grabbed her dog, her cat and some food for both as she packed up her BMW in the garage.
She went back in to check and see if she missed anything, and she didn't, so she left the keys to the apartment on the table, and left the house, never to return.  She left Pete to sort out his own insecurities.
