This particular painting is an oil painting of the angel Gabriel coming to Mary. You can tell that it is an angel because of the halo around her head.  There is also a ray of light shining on Mary. This masterpiece is painted on canvas. It is now located in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, in Vienna.
