About Matt Dinsick...
Matt Dinsick has been a musician since the age of eight, when he began piano lessons.  At fourteen, he switched to drums to play in garage bands with his friends.  Not one to miss out on a chance to play, he joined his high school band program and went on to become section leader and drumline captain.  Matt ended up in music school at Virginia Commonwealth Univeristy in his hometown of Richmond, Va, where he was able to gain valuable performance experience playing drums and classical percussion in a wide variety of settings.  While in school, Matt recorded and performed with local prog-punkers Sau, played Carribean-themed music shows at Paramount's King's Dominion, and subbed with The Richmond Symphony.

After school, Matt began to realize that what he was most interested in was playing the drumset.  He's since played almost every kind of style of music and venue;  however, his present focus is on jazz, samba and rocksteady.   He came to New York in 2001 to study with John Riley at SUNY Purchase for his Master's Degree, met some great people, and has lived there since.  He currently performs in a variety of situations throughout the New York metro area, including with his band, The Matt Dinsick Machine.
