"Backbeat/Plant-life Dream Theatre"

it's sunset but
the candles are smoking,
the incense is burning,
the mind is flickering.

bittersweet sandalwood
flickering backbeats
swirl through the air,
glinting off
potted plant leaves,
metallic odds
      'n plastic
ends

it's sunset but
the candles are flickering,
the incense is smoking,
the mind is drifting.

burning through waves
of discontent
lethargy, but lively,
the green juices flowing,
sucking life through
buried tentacles
encased in this
concrete/clay orange prison
reaching for that little
light to pull the two
of us through the quiet
everyday
      life altering
moments

it's nightfall,
the incense ashes,
the dragon takes flight,
and the candles sputter
      one last gasp,
'til the sun
rises.
