James George Janos was born to immigrant parents in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1951 and became one of the most famous wrestlers to ever grace the ring, or the broadcast booth, or the office of the Governor of Minnesota! Ventura joined the Navy right out of high school during the Vietnam war and became a member of the elite Navy SEALs. He was decorated with the Natioanl Defense Ribbon and the Vietnam Service Rubbon. Once his Naval career ended, Janos returned home and then toured the world as a bodyguard for the Rolling Stones. He married in 1975 and began his career as a professional wrestler after being inspired by the dastardly Superstar Billy Graham, who he would pattern his gimmick after. He began work for Don Owen in Oregon, feuding with Jimmy Snuka and winning the PNW Heavyweight Title and the PNW Tag Team Titles. He moved back to Minnesota to team with Adrian Adonis in Verne Gagne's AWA as the East-West Connection, winning the AWA World Tag Team Titles by forfeit from Gagne and Mad Dog Vachon. They finally lose the gold in 1981, one year after winning them, to Greg Gagne and Jim Brunzell.

The two joined the World Wrestling Federation under the tutelage of Classy Freddie Blassie and feuded with WWF Champion Bob Backlund, among others. He continued to be a headliner until blood clots ended his active wrestling career. He did make a comeback, but didn't last long and remained in the broadcast booth for his safety. He worked with Bruno Sammartino and Vince McMahon as a host for All-Star Wrestling, which became WWF Superstars of Wrestling. He also hosted the Body Shop, an interview segment along the same lines as Piper's Pit, on WWF television. He remained involved in WWF storylines and feuded with Hulk Hogan, Hillbilly Jim, Uncle Elmer and others, even having a brief wrestling appearance on an edition of Saturday Night's Main Event in 1986.

His first major job, though, was at Wrestlemania I where he and Gorilla Monsoon made wrestling history and called all the action. Stories have been told about how terrified Ventura was going into the show. Apparently, Gorilla Monsoon literally had to hold the quaking Body up during the introduction. Ventura didn't stay shy for long, though, and became one of the greatest and most outspoken broadcasters in wrestling history and established a pattern for heel wrestling announcers for years to come. Ventura would be chiefly involved in the Mega Powers versus Mega Bucks storyline leading into Summer Slam 1988 and served as the Special Guest Referee for that bout, won by the Mega Powers to Ventura's dismay.

During his WWF tenure, Ventura began work in Hollywood in such films as Demolition Man and Batman & Robin. Ventura often jokes that he and Arnold Schwarzenegger made history with their movie Predator, in that both went on to become Governors, where no two Governors ever appeared in a film together in American history. Ventura would enter political life, winning the Mayoral Race in Brooklyn Park Minnesota in 1990. He would retire from the WWF, taking on a lighter schedule in WCW where he worked alongside Tony Schiavonie to call the action as the WCW emerged as a major, national force. He quit the WCW in 1994 just as Hulk Hogan showed up on the scene, being replaced by Mean Gene OKerlund and Bobby Heenan in the traditional role. Many cite true-to-life friction with Hulk Hogan, though Ventura was emerging as a major political player with his radio show and eventually ran for Governor in 1999. He announced that he was not longer Jesse "The Body", but rather Jesse "The Mind" during the election and gained much popularity as a larger than life personality. He would run as an independent, spending very little on his campaign and used his wrestling legacy to his benefit during commercials featuring a wrestling figure version of Jesse Ventura busting heads and doing business as Governor. Ventura would shock the world by winning the race and established the great catch phrase, "My Governor can beat up your Governor".

Despite a law suit against the WWF over royalties for appearances on WWF Home Videos, which Ventura won in 1994, the Body and Vince McMahon were able to come together again, rallying around Ventura as Governor of Minnesota. Ventura would draw a great deal of criticism for agreeing to be the special guest referee in the Main Event of Summer Slam 1999, where Mankind won the WWF Title beating Triple-H and Steve Austin. Ventura mixed it up a little too, hurling Shane McMahon out over the top rope after the match was over. Before the match began, Ventura made it clear where he stood, acknowleding how many said he was a disgrace for being here and then letting the world know that he was PROUD to be a WRESTLER. Ventura would appear a few more times with the WWF and later WWE, including taking on broadcast duties for XFL games. Ventura would achieve the greatest honour any WWE legend can achieve in 2004 when he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. He would appear the next night at Wrestlemania XX and declare that maybe "we need a wrestler in the White House in 2008" during an interview with Donald Trump at ringside. The crowd gave the Body a huge ovation. Ventura would support John Kerry's bid for the Presidency in 2004 and has yet to announce whether he will take a run at the Presidency in 2008 in a formal sense.

Who could deny THIS megastar his rightful place in the UWOW Hall of Fame? He's done it all from being a wrestling champion to a star announcer, to Mayor on to the Governorship! Jesse Ventura, what can't he do?
