Amanda Vires was my great aunt. She was my dad's, mother's sister. She was born on June 21, 1900. Her death certificate says that her DOB was June 10, 1920. I know that my grandma was right about the dates because Amanda was the eldest, then my grandma was born in 1902. Amanda was the first of ten children. Aunt "Mandy" (as my grandma called her) married Will Gabbard (a one armed man, lost it in a mining accident). They had three children, Bill, Cleta and Ruby. On February 14, 1927, Aunt "Mandy" died fom TB. She died in Lothair, Perry County, Kentucky. As of this date, her burial site has not been located. Her parents and little sister Gracie, are buried at High Top Cemetery in Jackson, Breathitt County, Kentucky.
Will (her husband), re-married another woman named Ann Cundiff and they had a son together, name unknown. Will was murdered by wife (2) Anna. His death certificate says he died from "food posioning." You can guess how he died. His burial side has yet to be found also. His and Aunt Amanda's three children were put into an orphanage in North Carolina. His son, Bill and Cleta are still living, however Ruby died in 2001. Bill wants to find his parents' final resting place.
