Albuquerque, New Mexico

"Gettin' Our Kicks On Rte 66"...

Albuquerque gave Daryl the opportunity to catch up with his cousin Reggie.

We had a great time visiting with them and hope to return to Albuquerque again!

Along "The Turquoise Trail" in New Mexico

Didn't realize "ghettos" were on this tour??
Oops, guess they aren't,
this is an old mining town!

Madrid, New Mexico, a coal producing boomtown
that would have died out in the 1970's
if artists hadn't come to the rescue.

You could just feel the "history" here!

Cerrillos, a sleepy village where many Western movies have been filmed.

We enjoyed hearing the history of her dad and his business in this quaint Mining Town.

MJ had the opportunity to take advantage of this...
A book is being written about these... "Vanishing Out Houses" in New Mexico.

Santa Fe, New Mexico
We spent an enjoyable day touring Santa Fe and visited several missions & churches in the area. We also enjoyed a leisure walk thru the shops etc. The Art & Architecture were beautiful!

The Loretto Chapel, the legendary "miraculous staircase" is as beautiful as it is mysterious.

Beautiful work of perfection!

The famous Spiral Stairway was built by an unknown carpenter in answer to prayers to St. Joseph by the Sisters of Loretto.

San Miguel Church,
The oldest continuously used church in the United States.

The Church was built by Tlaxcalan Indians from Mexico in the early 1600's. The original adobe walls remain under the stucco exterior. A 1955 archaeological dig revealed the church was built over ancient Indian ruins.

The beautiful St. Francis Cathedral, which houses the 325 year-old statue of the Virgin known as the city's patroness.

What a rude awaking this morning in Albuquerque!

We're outta here before we get snowed in...
