P-I NEWS SERVICES.  "She is the cat's meow in cloning."
Seattle Post-Intelligencer 15 Feb. 2002: A1-A2.

This newspaper article is about Cc (carbon copy) the first cloned cat.  Researchers at Texas A&M are the first to report cloning a cat.  Many pet owners have already stored their pet's cells if cloning becomes common.  The cloned pet is not exactly like the original even though its genetic makeup is the same.  The original pet looks different and acts different than the clone.  Wayne Pacelle (Senior Vice President for the Humane Society of the United States) called the cloning "unfortunate news".  Pacelle said many communities have too many cats for too few homes and cat cloning "goes in the opposite direction of where we need to be".

Lacitis, Erik. "Big dogs can be trouble for others."
The Seattle Times 26 Mar. 2002.

The main idea of this article is to show that big dogs are dangerous.  It talks about a dog-named Opie that has big paws now as a puppy.  The big paws mean that he is going to grow up to be a big dog. The article listed off some big dogs that can be dangerous like Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, German Shepherds, and Huskies.  These breeds account for many fatal attacks on humans (based on what American Veterinary Medical Association said).  The dog (a Presa Canarios) that mauled to death Diane Whipple is not on the list because it is a fairly new dog breed t this country.  The article then went on to say that shelters are screening potential adopters of big dogs more carefully than of a smaller dog.

Rouch, Victoria.  "All bark and no insurance: Owning a big dog may scare away some home insurers."
The Seattle Times 14 Apr. 2002.

This newspaper article says that if you have a big dog some home insurance companies will not cover you.  Barbara McNinch moved to New York with her three Rottweilers and German Shepherd.  She is a professional dog trainer and her State Farm agent was not impressed with the dogs.  After awhile she was able to get a new policy.  This article mentioned that many people have had trouble getting home insurance with big dogs, especially after the woman in San Francisco was killed.
