RULES

NCAA Tournament Square Game will operate in the same fashion as a football square game.

Cost is $20 per square.

You can purchase as many squares as you want.

After all squares are filled by paying players, numbers will be drawn randomly.  Unlike when playing a football square game, there are no bad numbers.

Each tournament game has a winner.  The box score listed on espn.com will be used to determine the final score.  In the case where a score is known to be incorrect on espn.com, I will ensure the correct score is used to determine the winner by checking various other sites.

After a game is completed, the person owning the square that matches the ones digit from each team's score will win the prize money for a game in that round of the tournament.  For example, if Indiana beats Duke 109-57 in a sweet sixteen matchup, the person occupying the "Winner" 9 and "Loser" 7 square will be the winner of $40.

Payouts per round are as follows:

All games in the round of 64/1st round are worth $10 per game  (32 winners)
All games in the round of 32/2nd round are worth $20 per game  (16 winners)
All games in the round of 16/Sweet Sixteen are worth $40 per game  (8 winners)
All games in the round of 8/Elite Eight are worth $80 per game  (4 winners)
All games in the round of 4/Final Four are worth $160 per game  (2 winners)
The championship game is worth $400.

This gives you 63 chances for your square to win.  (The play-in game does not count.)

All money must be in my hands before March 17, 2009 (one week prior to the first round of games.)  Any squares that do not have money submitted before March 17, 2009 will forfeit their claim to that square and the square will be given up to the first paying entry.

If you have questions about the rules or how the game operates,
email me.

What you need to do to play:

Pick a square. Look at the square sheet and determine what squares are available using the numbers on the squares and noting if a name appears in an already claimed square.

Email me. Send me an email with your top 3 square selections (the numbers of those squares).  Send me your top 6 selections if you are claiming two squares, and so on.  I will assign claims to squares by the order in which I receive the claims via email.  If by the time I get to your square and it is already taken, I will go down the list of your 2nd and 3rd choices.  If all three of your choices are already taken, I will assign you the next available square to the right, progressing down the sheet and then email you that information in case you want to choose a different square.

Send me your money. This can be done a few different ways:

Send directly to Matt Hunt, 908 N Wolcott #2, Chicago, IL 60622.
Send $21 via
Paypal to matthewjohnhunt@yahoo.com
Bring the money to my house.
Meet me somewhere downtown Chicago during the day (I work at Clinton and Adams.)
Give the money to someone that will give me the money (my wife for example.)

Side note that I cannot stress enough - Money collection will be the largest hurdle of this game.  You MUST get me the money before end of day March 17, 2008 or any squares you have claimed will be forfeited.  That means if you are mailing the money, SEND IT BEFORE MARCH 17.

Collect your winnings. Once the tournament starts I will keep track of winnings on this site.  All winnings will be paid at the conclusion of the tournament.  To make payments quicker, please send me your address if you are a winner (and I do not already have it.)
