Alighting
ifrom one flower to another
They sip the sweet nectar.
Behold such gorgeous colors bright
Fluttering in the sunlight
A glittering array
Of nature's jewelry.
Daisies abound with
the spangled fritillary
and on thistles,
the paintled lady;
A viceroy drinks from the September ruby asters,
While black-eyed Susans attract the skippers.
From earthbound caterpillar to graceful butterflies free
Such an astounding transformation
Has captured repeatedly
People's imagination.
