Mommy had gone to the hospital on Tuesday, May 30th (my due date) for her regular checkup and Dr. Thomas & Lt. Austin "checked" her and told her she was 3cm dilated. He sent her out walking for 2 hours and told her to come back after that. When she & daddy came back she was still only 3cm so Dr. Thomas sent them home

Mommy started having contractions on Friday, June 1 around 4:45am....they weren't really consistent, so they didn't worry too much. Around 8am, they started to be every 10 minutes apart. At 10:00, they decided to go on to the hospital. They packed the car up and drove down to pick our friend Jen Roper up from her house. After we picked her up, we went to Balboa. Once there, they took mommy back to the prep room and left Daddy & Jen in the waiting room. They let Daddy come back for a short period while they "checked" mommy's progress. They told her that she was 4cm dilated and they they would admit her to the hospital. Because they didn't have a room ready yet & since mommy's water hadn't broken Dr. Thomas sent her out walking again. He told them to eat lunch because it would be the last time mommy got to eat until she had me! They went to McDonalds downstairs and ate lunch, then they went walking all around the hospital.

Finally around 3pm, they went back upstairs to get mommy admitted into the hospital. They put her in room #1, and after she was settled in & all hooked up to the monitors "the fun began". Her nurse put in her IV and then she sneaked some apple juice in for her. Mommy had contractions for a long time, and around 8pm Dr. Haas decided that they would help her along by breaking her water, so they did that....Right after that, the anesthesiologist came in and gave mommy the epdidural. Daddy had to leave because he got a little light headed, so mommy held on to the nurse. After that, mommy was numb from the waist down, and she thought it was very funny. She was still making very slow progress, so they decided to help her out a 2nd time by giving her some medicine called Pitocin....after that, things picked up! Now, by this time Daddy & Jen are very tired, but they take turns walking to keep them awake. They also spent lots of quarters in the vending machines, daddy bought Cherry Coke and Aunt Jen bought coffee. A few minutes after 11pm the nurse came in again and said, OK....let's push! So mommy did....for 3 whole hours! My heartbeat kept dropping really low, so they made mommy wear an oxygen mask (she didn't like it at all and she kept trying to take it off). After that, the doctors said that I needed some help coming out, so they brought in the forceps. This scared mommy and daddy very bad because they looked like oversized salad tongs. They put them around my head and turned me face down like I was supposed to be. Mommy pushed until she got my head out, and the doctors started yelling for her to stop, my umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck 2 times! They got that undone and told her to push again...she pushed and one shoulder came out, and then the other.....one more big push and I came into the world at 2:46am!

The doctors wisked me away to be cleaned up and checked. After about 15 seconds I started to cry, it sure was cold out there! They got me all cleaned up and handed me to daddy since mommy was a little occupied with the doctors checking her. After about an hour, daddy went for a walk and a nurse came in and gave me a bath and a shot. I didn't cry at all during that shot! We went to our room around 6am, and slept!

We had many friends come see us at the hospital, and they brought me some balloons and flowers. My uncle James Siders (one of daddy friends) held me and we took his picture. It was very fun to be cuddled by everyone!

We went home on Sunday, June 3, 2001 around 3pm. When we got home I cuddled on the couch with Daddy and slept alot!
