Shadow-Wing


The Shadow-Wing is basically a Rogue who has taken to the sky. While increasing her abilities as a Rogue, she also learns how to fight from a winged mount, devastating foes with the cover of stealth.

Requirements

- Skills: Hide 4+ ranks, Move Silently 6+ ranks, Ride 4+ ranks.

- Abilities: Dexterity 13+, Intelligence 13+.

- Feats: Mounted Combat, Point Blank Shot.

- Special: +3d6 Sneak Attack damage.

- Special: Must choose and have a specific mount at the time of choosing this class.

Class Skills

The Shadow-Wing’s class skills (and the key ability for each) are: Balance (dex), Craft (int), Decipher Script (int), Disable Device (dex), Disguise (cha), Handle Animal (cha), Hide (dex), Knowledge/nature (int), Listen (wis), Move Silently (dex), Open Lock (dex), Ride (dex), Search (int), Spot (wis), Use Magic Device (cha). Use Rope (dex).

Skill Points each additional level: 8 + int modifier.

Class Features

- Hit Die: The Shadow-Wing rolls d6s for hit points.

- Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Shadow-Wings are proficient with Rogue weapons as well as the Longbow, Composite Longbow, and Shuriken. They are proficient with the Halfspear, Shortspear, Javelin, Repeating Crossbow, and Net, but only while mounted and in the air. The Shadow-Wing is proficient with light armor, but not shields.

- Cooperative Influence: Both the Shadow-Wing and her mount receive a +4 bonus to Bluff, Intimidate, and Sense Motive checks when within 10 ft. of each other. This stacks with all other bonuses.

- Empathic Link: A Shadow-Wing can communicate telepathically with her chosen mount at a range of up to 10 miles.

- Sneak Attack: This works just as the Rogue’s Sneak Attack. Levels of all classes that provide Sneak Attack bonuses stack to determine the damage. Mounted ranged attacks can be made if the rider succeeds at a Ride check (DC =10 + 1 per 5 ft. from the target). This improves to 10 + 1 per 10 ft. from target at 4th level, and 10 + 1 per (range increment) ft. from target at 9th level.

- Uncanny Dodge: This is just as the Rogue's Uncanny Dodge, but is gained at 1st, 3rd, 7th, 10th, 13th, and 16th levels.

- Blind-Fight: At 2nd level, the Shadow-Wing gains the Blind-Fight feat for free.

- Ride feats: At 2nd level, a Shadow-Wing chooses Fly-By Attack, Mounted Archery, Ride-By Attack, or Trample as a bonus feat. Another may be chosen at 5th, 9th, 14th, and 18th levels. After Ride-By Attack is selected, Spirited Charge becomes available as a bonus feat of this type.

- Far Shot: At 4th level, a Shadow-Wing gains the Far Shot feat as a bonus feat.

- Shared Expertise: At 4th level, a Shadow-Wing and mount gain Shared Expertise as a bonus feat. This works exactly as the Expertise feat except that the AC bonus is applied to both mount and rider. They are so in tuned with each other in combat that they can block attacks for each other. Either rider or mount may use Shared Expertise, but only one each round.

- Mounted Initiative: At 5th level, a Shadow-Wing gains a +4 bonus on initiative rolls while mounted on her chosen mount. The mount also receives this bonus.

- Precise Shot: At 6th level, a Shadow-Wing gains Precise Shot as a bonus feat.

- Mounted Critical: At 8th level, any melee weapon a Shadow-Wing uses while on her chosen mount is treated as having a 1 greater critical range. Ranged weapons are treated as having a 2 greater critical range, and a 3 greater range while in the air. At 12th level, the critical damage is +1 for ranged weapons. Melee weapons remain the same.

- Special Abilities: At 10th, 13th, 16th, and 20th level, a Shadow-Wing may choose a special ability. The abilities are Defensive Roll, Improved Evasion, Opportunist, Skill Mastery, and Feat, and function just as the Rogue ability of the same name.
