This race was inspired by the Yu-Gi-Oh! card Hayabusa Knight.
The Hayabusa are an ancient race. Thought to be extinct, they are reappearing now in small numbers. They're very charismatic, but little else is known as to what they're really like.
- Personality: These feathery humanoids are lovers, of history, religion, and the arts. Riches are only important to get what they need to survive, but music and knowledge are priceless. If there ever was a more peaceful race, they didn't keep records. Though peaceful, they can be fierce and relentless in battle when threatened.
- Physical Description: 'Hie Hayans have bird-like features; a beak,, clawed hands and feet, and feathers. Rarely do they grow wings; only about 1 in 500. Just like humans, many different Hayans exist: hawks, eagles, and ravens to name a few. Generally they stand between 5f10" and 6'6", and weigh as much as a human. Each variation is slightly different in height, weight, and color. They prefer simple clothes, but in flashy colors-, more like performer's clothes. Their usual lifespan is 150 years.
- Relations: They are quick to trust, but short to forgive. Anciently, great rivalries were formed while the greatest friendships also existed. The Hayans give all their friendship openly, but hold long grudges when their friendship is rejected. All the old rivalries are dead, so all start anew.
- Alignment: They delight in order, while tending to be Good. A few subraces have a tendency toward Neutrality or even Evil. Occasionally a group may be Chaotic.
- Hayabusa Lands: Anciently, the whole world was inhabited by the Hayans: from the desert 'Vultures' to the mountainous. 'Eagles/. Now> most are found only in deep forests or caves where they've been forced to hide.
- Religion: All deities can be found being Worshipped. Ra, commonly the Egyptian Sun god, is the creator of all the Hayabusa tribes. Many have Ra as well as another deity as patron deities.
- Language: The Hayabusa have, their own dialect; Hayish. Its alphabet is a cross between Draconic and Egyptian hieroglyphics. It also varies from tribe to tribe, as the human tongues German, Spanish, and so on. Even still, they can all. understand each other.
- Names: A name is sacred to the Hayabusa. Most commonly, a temporary name is given at birth, and then at adolesence a new name is chosen by the Hayan him/herself, There may also be family names, religious names, elan names, or even nicknames. An old Hayish saying is, "One can never have too many names: in fact, the more the merrier."
- Adventurers: No one understands why a particular Hayan may leave his/her home. In fact, no one has seen one to ask.
