I specialize in the teaching of writing. As a teacher, I enjoyed teaching introductory and advanced composition classes, as well as creative writing. As an assistant principal, I consider writing an essential tool for, and outcome of, all learning. I work hard to inspire and support teachers across the curriculum to develop their students' writing skills.
NEW
YORK TEACHER |
In 1999 I was awarded a New York State, Christa McAuliffe Fellowship to establish and coordinate a writing center at John Dewey High School, where I taught. In addition to teaching my classes at John Dewey High School, I spent much of my school day managing, tutoring in, and developing the writing center program.
When I was appointed as Assistant Principal of Humanities at Brooklyn High School of the arts, part of my mission was to install a writing center and build a writing program around it as I had done at John Dewey High School. Now I supervise a new writing center. The writing center program I have developed over the years is described in condensed form at the links in the table above.
