Cold Winter Night

I remember the words you spoke,

On that cold winter night.

It made my heart stop,

As I fought back the urge to cry.

You offered to help,

But all I wanted was to be somewhere else.

Far away from here,

And from the increasing heaviness in my heart.

I never thought this day would come.

I never thought I would be alone once more.

I loved you more than words could say.

Yet that wasn't enough.

I wish I could hold you in my arms once more,

To feel your tender touch,

To lay down beside you

And to be content once more.

Comment:This poem was more of a release of emotion after the breakup with my ex then anything else. It really tells how I felt at the moment.
