The Course Consists of Theory Classes and Practical Lessons Course: INF113 Introduction to Information Systems
Purpose The introduction to Information Technology will educate the student to be aware of the importance, the versatility, and the pervasiveness of computers within commerce, business and management. They will learn what computers systems are and how they work and what they can do.
Outcomes: The student will be able to: a) Identify various components of an information system b) Describe the uses of programming languages c) Use various computer applications d) Communicate effectively in a broad spectrum of environment by using the appropriate software and communication-related tools Understand ethical issues related to information technology use
Topics: Introduction to IS, Software and Hardware, Connectivity & Communications, Introduction to legislative issues, Ergonomics & Environment, Programming languages, Information systems, and Characteristics of IS professionals and IS career paths. Assessment Laboratory exercises, individual and team assignments, tests and exams.
