Trixie |

Trixie was a little dog who thought she was big. Her favourite activities included harassing the cats (who found her a nuisance, but could have sent her scrambling if they ever decided to fight back) and Dakota, who usually just ignored her. She was always alert & ready to go and seemed to feel that it was her responsibility to attack ankles that move (especially Angela's or Dakota's). |

Trixie was not an easy dog to get a good picture of because she was constantly on the move. I feel honoured that she decided to pose for me here. |

Here she is after her haircut in the spring. Not quite so scruffy looking here. |

Not one to be left behind, Trixie enjoyed the trips to the dog park. Her little legs had to keep moving so she could keep up, but she seemed to manage just fine. |

This was a common reaction for many of the dogs when they first saw Trixie out there. Morgan & Dakota ignore her, but this wais Tessa's first look at her. She had been running until this instant when she saw Trixie and just about fell over trying to stop suddenly to check her out.. |

In February, 2003, Trixie suddenly became ill and was taken to the veterinarian. She was almost lifeless and was blind. It was thought that she may have had a stroke or a brain injury or swelling and she was not expected to live the night. Amazingly, she bounced back to life before the night was out & seemed to have made a complete recovery. This was short lived however and over the next few months, she would be up and down continuously. Finally, the down days became a constant, it had been weeks since her tail had been up over her back and she stopped eating. The time had come for her last trip to the veterinarian and one more time I held her as she quietly slipped away. |
