FORMER DOORS DRUMMER SAYS CLOSE THE DOORS
John Densmore has filed a lawsuit against the other surviving members of The Doors, challenging their plans to tour using the band's original name.

The injunction was submitted yesterday, with Densmore's lawyers citing breach of contract, trademark infringement and unfair competition against Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger.

Also named in the lawsuit are former Police drummer Stewart Copeland and Ian Astbury of the Cult, who has been asked to step into Jim Morrision's legendary boots.

Densmore claims plans to tour as The Doors have been made without the permission of Morrison's estate our his deceased partner Pamela Courson.

He explained: "I don't begrudge them to play or people wanting to hear them play. But it's, The Doors were John, Jim, Robby and Ray, or John, Paul, George and Ringo. You know?

"They can say 'formerly members of The Doors', you know, but Ray, Robby, Ian, Stewart, and Fred is not ...The Doors."

'The Doors' are scheduled to play the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles on February 8.
