Christmas 1989  was one of my happiest for that was when I bought our first Collie Rough home. Aronbel High Fidelity, or "Beau" as he was affectionately  known, was our pride & joy and was my best mate for nearly 13  years.  A blue merle with the most outgoing friendly personality he soon endeared us to the breed.  ( The saddest day was  Sunday the 27th October 2002 when Beau was put to sleep due to kidney failure.  Just 3 days short of his 13th birthday - Rest in Peace my old mate)
In September  1991 we moved from Melbourne metro to the country.  Just prior to the move we purchased our 2nd Collie.   A tri coloured bitch  Dalwood Dusky Genius, or "Debbie", was a 2 year old when we got her and she soon settled in with us.   The plan was to mate her to Beau.   Somehow  that never happened and in 1992 she was mated to a shaded sable & white dog  - Edinslee Ensign McGee.  This mating was line  breeding to the old Hylinden line and from the litter we kept a sable & white bitch Mavmon Fine Style (or "Shona").  Sadly, due to an accident, Debbie broke her pelvis and we were unable to breed from her again.  She was spayed and became my house dog, along with Beau, until we lost her to snake bite in 1999.   However, her daughter proved to be an invaluable foundation brood bitch giving us 3 champions from her 2 litters.   We have often regretted not having another litter from Shona but we only breed when we want something and the occasion just never arose; so age caught up with her and she is now the matriach of the kennels, keeping all in line for me.
You can see some of our beautiful Collies here and we trust you will enjoy looking at them as much as we enjoy having them.

We are a small  kennel but we believe what we have is quality.  The stud dogs we have used have been carefully selected to continue on our sound lines.  Our pedigrees are rich with Australian bloodlines of
Hylinden, Glenallen, Carluke & Dalwood (with infusions of U.K. blood from Karava, Lowerpark &  Rifflesea).

We are dedicated to the Collie breed.  Our dogs are not regarded as a "mere dog" - they are part of the family.   In fact, I regard my Collies as my trusted and true friends,  our personal protectors, our property guardians  and our  faithful companions.  They are faithful to the end and love us unconditionally.    In return we love them equally & vow to strive to only improve the Collie Rough being careful to only breed  a litter that we consider should be a credit to the breed.    At MAVMON we only breed those litter's when we wish to increase our  "extended family"  - hopefully for the showring.   We prefer the "old type" of Collie as we believe that they are superior in body type -  after all the Collie is a Working Dog & we are always concious of the fact that a Collie should be able to physically & mentally work livestock.   The major requirement for being
able to work all day in the field is "body conformation"  without that the dog may as well sleep under a shady tree all day because they would be of no use to the farmer.   Our foundation line can be traced back to solid sound bodied Collies,  dogs that would leave no-one in doubt as to what they were meant to do (that is apart from loving you).    We love "a steady, slow, even, fluent gait with stretch & drive and minimum effort that would enable the dog to work all day."    Another important part of being able to be an effective working dog is coat texture.   A correct rough textured coat with the required finer undercoat enables the Collie to endure all weather conditions - most importantly wet weather.  A correct coat will repel rain/cold/snow/heat.   A fine silky coat will soak up the moisture resulting in the dog chilling which is obviously  not desirable for a dog that may be required to be in the field all day in any weather conditions.  Our aim is for MAVMON Collies to  have the conformation we love; as well as the beauty, brains & temperament that the Collie Rough is famous for.   We strive to breed Collies that will be able to be a valued member of any family (human or doggie), Collies that proudly represent the breed, Collies that are worthy of their proud ancestry & Collies that will be instrumental in retaining the true Collie Rough characteristics in generations to come.
Unfortunately, farm and work commitments do not allow us to show as much as we would like.  But  when we do venture out we usually enjoy success (and still enjoy it when we don't win!).
We hope you enjoy your visit and please contact me if you would like further information on our dogs.
