Mavmon News
23rd January 2005 - No shows for the past couple of months, so a bit quiet here on that front.  We are very excited here at Mavmon though as last week we welcomed into our Collie family the lovely young blue merle girl ~ Hylinden Crystal Hylites.   Crissy is a daughter of our tri boy Ch Mavmon Ebonite Minstrel & her mum is Ch Jankeri Blue Moon.  She is entered in a show next weekend but unfortunately will not be attending because she decided to come into season on the day of her arrival here.  I will be adding a page soon for Crissy.

20th November 2004 -
Toby has had another Best of Breed win (& another Open in Group award) and is now soooooo close to obtaining his Aust Championship title.   Unfortunately, with summer just around the corner and not many shows close to us he is going to have to wait for his final point.    I am just so proud of my boy and the fact that over his last few shows he has gained yet another admirer - a young gentleman who this weekend decided that he loved the Collie so much that he just has to get his own to show.    An updated photo of Toby Tyler will be uploaded onto his page in the next day or two, so please check back.
During the month we received, more exciting news from NSW.  Mavmon Ebonite Dawn is still having fun in the showring and at the tender young age of just 8.5 months was awarded Runner-Up in Group at  Brunswick Valley KC (NSW) show ~ simply awsome news!!!!.   Thank you Carol & Bill ..... keep on keeping on guys :)
Finally, but by no mean the least ..... there is another Collie (this time a baby puppy) finding itself in a Rescue Situation.  It seems that this puppy is the result of a backyard breeder which is most unfortunate.  So please visit my Rescue Page for contact details of his current carer if you are able to help him.

27th October 2004 -
Had a great weekend showing last weekend (yes, I actually got to go to a dog show .... yippee) with Toby, Mavmon Ebonite Eclipse, picking up Best of Breed at both shows in Mt Gambier, SA.  He also won Open in Group on the Saturday.   These were extra special wins for me because it was 2 years ago that I could not attend the 2nd show of the same clubs shows due to Toby's father falling critically ill on the Sunday morning before I left for the show.  Sadly Beau left me that day ~ a day I will never forget.
Toby is now very close to his title and that will also be a special day for us all.
Young Dawn,
Mavmon Ebonite Dawn, who lives with Bill & Carol Cross in NSW is also having fun in the ring.  Dawn is building on her own points tally with CC, RCC ,BOB & RUBOB wins to date.  A couple of weekends ago Dawn won 2 Minor in Group's & went on to Minor in Show on one day.  Well done guys.
I have finally done a Memories Page ~ Tribute to Beau, so please take a look at it.   Beau was my very first Collie and he passed over the Rainbow Bridge 2 years ago today.

10th August 2004 -
I decided to add a Collie Rescue information page to our web to try to assist Sherel in her fantastic efforts in finding homes for the occasional Collie that needs to be helped.  I am proud to say that within a couple of weeks of adding that page a wonderful family visited & enquired on whether any Collies were looking for a new home.  As it happened at the same time 2 Collies from the one home found themselves in need in Canberra & although these people were only looking for one new family member they decided they couldnt split them up & adopted both.  A very happy ending & a wonderful job done by Sherel & many others.
Reilly (from our last litter) now has his own web with lots of photo's.  His friend "Wilbur the Bunny" also has photos there.  I have put his web address on my links page if you would like to visit him & watch him grow up.
And it is STILL raining here.   Should have a great spring in regards to grass for the cows but I wish it would stop coz we are slightly water logged here
.

6th July 2004 -
Our baby boy Reilly (Mavmon Crackerjack) has left us and now living by the sea up Melbourne way.  Piper will be staying here at Mavmon.   Reilly joined his new family on Sunday after the Victorian Collie Club Championship show after embarassing me with his antics in the showring.  But at least he had fun & earned his new mum Natalie a third place ribbon to take home as well as a puppy.   We wish Nat, her mum & Reilly a long and happy friendship & I get the impression he is going to be very spoilt (as all Collies should be !).
Enjoyed the Collie Champ show ... weather was fine which was a pleasant change for us as it hasnt stopped raining in our neck of the woods for a couple of months.   Unofficially it was the wettest June since records were first kept here & we are wet, wet, wet.    Came home with my handsome boy Bob getting 2nd in the Open dog class, Reilly 3rd in Baby Puppy and Tiffany's son Josh came 2nd in Junior Dog for his owner Jeanette (Cheltary Kennels) even though he decided to lose nearly all of his coat the previous week to the show.   Jeanettes Baby Boy Jamie - who is a son of our boy Jack - came 1st in his class which was very pleasing.

- Litter plans update ..... We are no longer planning a blue merle/tri litter.  Instead a sable and white &/or tri colour litter is in the wind.   A tri colour daughter of Mavmon Ebonite Edition ("Jack") and Dalwood Amazing Blu ("Tara") will be mated to Cheltary Kennels' handsome young  sable and white gentleman Mavmon Country Rhythm ("Josh").   You can visit Josh via the Cheltary link on our "Links Page" or via "Tiffanys Page".    We are hoping these puppies will be due September/October 2004.

11th June 2004
- Finally a new page has been added for baby boy "Piper" - Jack & Peggy's son Mavmon Pied Piper.  Please pay him a visit.   Congratulations to Cheltary Kennels on their baby girl Cheltary Naughtybutnice winning Baby Puppy In Group last weekend under Collie specialist Bob Bell.  "Gypsey" is another Jack daughter.   Also to Carol & Bill Cross with their Baby Puppy In Group with Pipers litter sister Mavmon Ebonite Dawn.

4th May 200
4 - Our babies have all left us and settled into their new homes.  We have retained 2 sable & white boys here at Mavmon.   I hope to have their pages finished soon - it has been difficult to get decent photos with all the rain we have been experiencing the last couple of weeks.  STILL no shows for us lately.  We do plan on a show in June with the 2 baby boys making their debut then.   Suppose that will be the usual "embarrasing moment" weekend with babies doing what they do best having fun?

1st March 2004
- Peggy has given birth to a gorgeous litter of 5 babies.  She is being an excellent mum and the babies are doing really well.   Thanku Thanku (she knows who).  Showing has been off the agenda again due to the babies so no news there.   Bonnie is back to her old self with gusto & the bulls are telling me they are not happy about it (she spends her days generally harassing them & herding them around).
We have some exciting plans for the future.  Tiffany will be mated to a handsome tri dog in 2005, his identity will be revealed later.  And we are hoping for a very exciting blue merle/tri litter later this year .... stay tuned for details here.
Snakes are still a huge worry for us here, I was only 2 inches from being bitten by a very angry tiger snake a couple of weeks back.  It actually lauched into the air (left the ground I mean !!!!!) and charged at me.  After doing a real highland jig along with the appropriate voice accomaniements I managed to twist to the left mid air to avoid the open mouth & those dreaded fangs.  Mr Snake luckily kept going and disappeared before I could compose myself to go looking for it.  Really got the adreneline going I can tell you.  So pleased all the dogs were locked up and out of harms way at the time.  Here's hoping Mr Snake has now left the district.
until next time bye for now, Juliet

12th January 2004
- We hope that everyone had a great Christmas.  Our best wishes for a fabulous New Year to you all.
Guess who got a new computor for Christmas?    And guess who has had the devil's own time in getting it up and running !    Only today have I been able to get into our Website & edit the Christmas theme.
Our start to 2004 has not been a wonderful one with our planned litter with Bonnie (Dalwood Dusky Wyldfire) ending in near tragedy.  Bonnie became critically ill only days ago after aborting her puppies a couple of weeks back and has ended up being speyed due to pyometra - so our much looked forward to litter is not to be.  We are pleased to say however that she is well on the road to recovery now.   Hopefully her daughter will have better luck ...... stay tuned for more info here.   We were actually entered in a show at Bacchus Marsh, Vic yesterday but due to Bonnie recovering from her operation still we decided to stay home.  Hopefully we will make a couple of shows early February plus a few more throughout 2004 (2003 was a very quiet year for us in this area).    chow for now, Juliet

0th November 2003 - Well we trooped off to Millicent in South Australia over the weekend to a double champ show weekend.  Weather turned out fine even though early morning drizzle threatened to spoil our time out.  We managed to avoid any incidents with the notorious kangaroos we always see on this trip.  My tri boy Toby (Mavmon Ebonite Eclipse) went Reserve Dog challenge, Runner Up Best of Breed & Australian Bred in group on the Saturday.  Congrats to Jeanette & Dorothy (Cheltary Kennels) on getting the Bitch Challenge on both days plus Runner Up Best of Breed on the Sunday show with their girl Cassie (Mavmon Ebonite Fantasy).  Cassie has only just returned to the showring after a huge break due to a very serious injury.  At 6 years of age & not being in the ring for the last 4 Cassie is really doing well & has showed us that she has not forgotton the drill and is loving the extra attention & fuss.
                                            bye for now, Juliet

4th November 2003
- Hi All,  this is just a new page that I have started and whilst we do not go to many shows now I will try to update it as any news may arise.  I hope you like my revamped Home Page with my constant companion and best mate BOB (Aust Ch Mavmon Ebonite Minstrel) on it.  That photo was taken when he was 2 years old and a real scallywag, the cut off portion of the photo reveals a shoe which was being "restyled" by him.
Sincere sympathy to Wendy Pfeiffer (Blacklusset) on the recent passing of her beloved Kitty Cat - another era end
