"Toby" is a son of my first Collie, Beau. Toby has inherited his fathers gorgeous happy go lucky attitude. He also has Beau's "trait" that he only needs one invitation to be a clown & boy can he put on a show. Toby has succeeded in winning many hearts at ringside with his antic's since his late debut to the show ring in 2002. |
Toby came back to live with us at Mavmon when his previous owners both met with tragic accidents leaving them with crippling injuries - they could no longer cope with caring for him & luckily asked us if we could take him back. He was welcomed home with open arms and he quickly settled in with his now best mates, Bob & Jack. Toby was put on an immediate diet (he had definately been in a "good paddock" at his previous home), he needed work done on his coat; which was completely understandable in the circumstances that he came from; and he had to be taught that jumping up on people was not nice (once I hauled myself back up off the ground a couple of times this became No. 1 priority). After quite a few months we stood back & looked at him again - what we saw was most pleasing. Toby was finally starting to recoat and having lost a lot of weight his overall appearance & movement was much better. It was decided to give him a try in the showring. He took to showing like a duck does to water! After a couple of "green" tries which weren't really too dramatic (like bounding around the ring, loving the judge & barking to tell everyone he was having a great time) he soon settled down and is now picking up CC's & BOB's at Championship shows. Like his Dad he is a very trainable fellow, eager to learn & oh so eager to please. Even though he was an adult when he made his ring debut you would think he had been doing it since a baby. He is even eager to jump into the dog float to get to the show .............just because I ask him too! We are very proud of our Toby Tyler |
