The OWINGS GEDCOM is the line that is connected to Frio Co, TX. I visited there and tried to find records on my Grandmother Rhoda S. OWINGS WALKER, but found only records on her sisters, brother and parents...strange I thought. I also talked with a relative (now deceased) who assured me that he took my Grandmother there for one of her sister's funerals. Of course,
the fact that the Frio County Courthouse burned is a great hindrance to me. I talked with several of the older people there that remembered the family but none could remember my Grandmother. Her brother, J.D. had the barber shop, one of her sister's was married to the Mercer that owned a store there
and one of her sister's was committed to an asylum in San Antonio after her husband left her. (I spoke with the former Sheriff that remembered a few of the details on that story). I found the people there very friendly and willing to share what information that they had, just could not find the "right" person I guess. If you ever run across anyone researching this line, I would love to contact them.
My BORDEN info is solely based on the death certificate of my GGrandfather from there - Grady Lewis OWINGS. I've not been able to get any further with that.
