Negai’s Author’s Notes: Hi every one! ^^ This prologue will be written by me, Negai, and I hope you all like it. Sorry for not continuing with the other two co-written stories Max-chan and I started. We got distracted and one day while discussing this we got to thinking that we wanted to be the ones to bring Ranma and Akane together so this is a _SELF INSERTION FIC_. Please bear with us and we promise this won’t just concentrate on the new characters but on Ranma and Akane. The new characters just enhance the tension between the two.

Max-chan’s Author’s Notes: Ditto. ^.^

It was a normal day in the Nerima Ward. Normal meaning chaos everywhere, (Negai: You can‘t change Nerima, it‘s just so Nerima ... ^^;;) with the occasional fight here and there and of course you can’t forget that Nerima can’t be normal without the shouts of, “RANMA! PREPARE TO DIE!!!” or “Nihao Airen!” the occasional, “Panties!” and “COME BACK HERE PERVERT!!!”, from the enraged victims. (Negai: 0_o;; lots of norms there huh?) Though the only thing that would make it complete is the constant shouts of, “RANMA NO BAKA!”. (Max-chan: Awww...Music to Ranma’s ears. ^_^)Yep everything in Nerima was normal for the day but that would soon change. (Max-chan: Don’t even try to act surprised!)Next door to the Tendous’ home there was a for sale sign on the house (Negai: Who’d want to move from somewhere so exciting?) (Max-chan: I agree, you got to love the neighbors’ kooky friends always pooping in and trying to kill people.) that was stamped in bright red letters, “SOLD”. The house behind the Tendous’ was also empty and had a for sale sign that was stamped, “SOLD” Strange how two houses empty and sold... (Max-chan: Hehe, just gotta wonder...)

The next day was a warm Saturday and the morning was relatively peaceful. In the Tendou Dojo Akane was busily smashing a dummy into pieces. For once she wasn’t angry at the world or more particularly mad at a certain pig-tailed boy. Ranma left last night on some training expedition with his father and she was for once having a calm day for once (Negai: Is that possible?). She looked about her and after decimating the training dummy and she sat down in a lotus position and closed her eyes.

<<I haven’t done this in a while.>>

She started to glow and a faint gold aura surrounded her body as the dojo lit brightly. All the tension in her body melted away and she looked more peaceful and relaxed. Minutes passed by and soon hours. When Kasumi came to check to see if Akane was alright she smiled at what she saw before her.

<<It’s good that Akane decided to meditate again after so long. It wasn’t very healthy of her to lose her temper so easily. Hopefully she will continue this and maybe be calm enough to cook tomorrow night without any mistakes for Ranma tomorrow.>>

Then Akane started to reveal tension on her face and Kasumi thought it over again, <<Then again maybe I should rethink that idea>>

Akane, meanwhile, was in the deep recess of her mind just relaxing and doing what her auntie had taught her when she was younger. She let all of her energy flow outwards as a sixth sense she never quite got the hang of when she was younger. As a matter of fact she still couldn’t grasp the concept.

When Kasumi came to check on her, her aura grew to a brighter gold, happy to feel her oneechan nearby. Then she felt something of a much greater force than her own and probably even Ranma’s. She frowned and strained herself to recognize the unfamiliar power. When she was so close she found two girls looking at her. Both had black hair but the shortest, by maybe an inch or two , had silver streaks in her hair to highlight her uncanny gray blue eyes. The tallest had red streaks in her hair that highlighted her red brown eyes. The scene change in front of her from a black void to a grassy hill with spring time flowers and a running stream nearby with the chirp of birds.

Akane looked around in confusion and found herself in a short light blue dress with lace hanging longer behind her like a formal dress. The two girls were still there although they wore clothes identical to her but the taller was in red and the shorter in silver. They both approached her and smiled gently. Unexpectedly, they hugged her.

Akane was caught completely off guard and she was to shocked to respond. Soon, both girls let her go and started to disappeared. She was shaken out of her shock and asked frantically trying to get them to answer her before disappearing, “Wait, who are you?”

They smiled, “For now we’re just friends.”, replied the shortest.

“That’s all you need to know for now.”, replied the tallest.

“Wait!”, she called but it was to late because the two girls had disappeared.

She sat down in the green crisp grass and frowned. <<Why did they seem so familiar and why did they hug me?>>

Soon her surroundings turned black and Akane opened her eyes to find herself wrapped in a blanket. She peered out a window and found that night had settled upon Nerima. She found herself yawning and stretched tiredly, “I guess I’ve been practicing for too long.”

As she tried to get up, her legs protested telling her they were too tired. “Great, I’ve been sitting to long.”

Once again she yawned. “Maybe I’ll just close my eyes for a little while longer. Then I’ll get up and take a nice warm bath and change.”

However when she did close her eyes she didn’t wake up and slept in the dojo

for the night. The night birds sang gently in a lullaby and the bright full moon hung in the sky spreading it’s silvery light into the dark blue sky.

In the woods Ranma shivered in his sleeping bag. He couldn’t go to sleep feeling a nagging sensation at the pit of his stomach. Something felt of and not right. He looked around his dark surroundings trying to find what felt wrong. The tall dark trees grew high above seemingly threatening him and the howling of wolves were heard nearby. His father was in panda mode and was, as usual, snoring loudly asleep. He frowned.

“Stupid old man. Why’d he have to bring me out here anyways?”

He tried to snuggle into his sleeping bag and sleep but the fleeing wouldn’t go away. He sighed and thought about something that he always thought about when he was bothered. He thought about Akane, <<What am I to her? Am I just a fiancee that she doesn’t want? Am I just Ranma the perverted baka to her? I wonder what I really am? She’s the only one who actually makes me try to earn her affections. Ever since Safforn she has been acting a lot nicer and I haven’t been putting my foot in my mouth.>> ^YAWN^

He snuggled into his sleeping bag more. <<Thinking about Akane always makes me sleeply. She’s just to complicated but even though I think I might l...>>

In his dreams, Ranma was in a black void. Quiet whispers with two separate voices echoed around him, both masculine and not in anyway related to his.

“Leave her.”

“She’s too much trouble.”

“She’s not good enough, you deserve better.”

“She can’t cook.”

“She can’t sew.”

“She can’t do anything right.”

“She’s a tomboy, too much like a boy.”

“Ukyou’s cute.”

“Shampoo has a great body.”

“Kodachi maybe insane but she is intriguing.”

“Nabiki is smart and a looker.”

“Kasumi is a real woman, she can cook, sew, clean, make you comfy, gentle and a looker. She’s perfect.”

“Not like the tomboy brute that can cook to save her life and her looks are so hidious.”

“She is not the one for you.”

“You have many more to choose from.”

Ranma’s eyes glazed with so many suggestions being put into his mind. A bright light flashed in his dark cavern and he is placed in a bright setting with white walls and a gold frames. He looks around and finds no exit.

“Where am I?”

“You’re in your room,” said a soft voice from behind hind. He turned and found a girl who was a little taller than Akane with long black hair and silver streaks. She wore a white tunic and black loose trousers and calf length black boots.

“Who are you?”

She smiled at him. “I’m just a friend for now. I promise I’ll keep you safe from those awful dreams.”

“Awful dreams?”

“Answer me this, who do you like most? Is it Akane?”

Ranma replied in a harsh tone with no trace of blush or embarrassment. “Why would I like that tomboy most? She’s nothing but an uncute brute.”

“Are you sure about that?”, said a softer voice but with more steel behind it. He turned to her and found a girl a little shorter than him by maybe four inches with red streaks in her long black hair. She wore blood red tunic and black loose trousers with calf length black books. Her reddish brown eyes bore into him questioning his answer.

“Wasn’t she the one that always stood by you in your time of great need? What about the orichi incident? Weren’t you heart broken at the thought of loosing her to that boy Shinnosuke?” Questioned the girl with silver streaks.

“She’s just a lousy tomboy who’d love someone like her?” It was obvious that his emotions were conflicting because his face was strained while he said that.

The girl with red streaks grasped his right shoulder, “If you hate her so much, why do you eat her cooking? Why don’t you leave her?”

“If I didn’t she’d pound me to death and if I left her she’d hate me and so would my family.”

The one with silver streaks spoke holding his left shoulder, “Why do you save her constantly? Why worry about her when you are no where near?”

“I just have to or she’ll get hurt and I don’t worry, it’s not like I should care if a stupid mugger happen to knock her over and rape her.”

His face was straining a lot and sweat started to pour down his forehead. The two unknown girls hover didn’t relent and continued. They knew they were getting through and were very close. They looked at each other and nodded in a silent agreement.

The one with silver streaks spoke, “Why did she risk her life for you at phoenix mountain? Why did you become emotionless when you thought she was gone. Why did you kill to save her?”

Then finally the one with red streaks questioned softly but steely, “Why did you say you love her?”

“I-I... I love her.”

He closed his eyes and slumped over, completely tired. They gently laid him down to rest on a white bed which also contained another lump under the blankets. The room transformed having three walls and a light billowy white curtain acting as the fourth. The two girls stepped through and sat down on the green grass, acting as guards protecting Ranma and Akane...
